This is sarcasm, right? Why are you so threatened by education? Are there no egghead professors at Rice?
Yes I was and took a lot of it to heart. I truly believe in Jesus and thus I am a devote Christian. I take MLK words to heart and believe in a color blind society. I also believe JFK when he said (paraphrasing)"it is a paradoxical truth that you increase government revenue by decreasing taxes". Carlin and Pryor I found hilarious yet understood they were comedians.
I believe selflessness is the higher moral ground just like the philosopher Jesus said so clearly. But I'm agnostic and I don't strive to live up to the tenets. I think Conservative Christians are engaged in cognitive dissonance. You can't really be both. It's just where you draw the line though, everything is a compromise with reality. You don't see me out at Habitat For Humanity all Summer. I think that cooperative effort is what has made America a great place to luck into. I think greed is an impediment to the greater good.
You are capable of thinking for yourself, so please don't let this joker think for you. Maybe you'll come to the same conclusion--liberals promote evil and conservatives promote good--on your own, but you will have at least gone through the process of examining each one of your beliefs and testing them to see if they stand up to your own internal scrutiny.
Yet he said that when tax rates were much higher than they are today. Do you believe that the lower that tax rates are, the more government revenue is increased? If you do, you are very naive.
It really irritates me when conservative crazies like you use the term "pro-abortion". Its a damn fallacy to make those who support pro-choice evil. No one is "pro-abortion". No one likes aborting fetuses. Its not a damn hobby or something. Just like any pro-choice advocate we believe abortion is a horrible thing but the choice of a woman overrides the act. And what is wrong with homosexuals. Didn't you just go on a rant to another poster about bigotry and stereotyping? Yes because we love unemployment? Weakened Military? How about stronger domestic security without the expensive outreach of foreign affairs the current military has? Still safe and we can throw money at actual domestic issues that directly effects the average American. College students? WTH is wrong with pursuing higher education?
Rand just made me want to be an architect and self-rightous *******. Love the profound philosophy of Jesus, understand the need for social engineering, don't buy the supernatural bull****
Actually I believe in the Laugher curve. There is a point where higher taxes lower revenue as do too low of taxes.
...I'm feeling somewhat merciful today, so I'll just say that it is the Laffer Curve, and that most economists believe the United States is to the left of the optimum tax rate.
Capitalism has no regard for ethics or the greater good past ensuring for future profit. Patriotism is about sharing and allocating assets to create the greatest overall good: necessary infrastructure, regulation for safety and fairness, large scale innovation and development. That's not socialism. It's a hybrid system; that is now being tweaked in the wrong direction by the advocacy of the money over the advocacy of the greater good.
not true RedRedemption just said that he'd rather kill a baby than "have the child and parents suffer". pro-choice is a euphemism cooked up by the pro-abortion crowd
If we can talk in brash generalities, and total stereotypes (yay "pro-abortion crowd"!) Pro-life should really be pro-American baby life---because aww babies. But Somalis, Iraqis, death row people and all the rest? f**k that. Also slashing child aid and food aid is cool, because as long as they live, they're not a burden on my conscience. Doesn't matter if they live terribly. My work is done!
Kill A Baby Kill A Baby Kill A Baby Kill A Baby Kill A Baby There are soberly adjudicated opinions on this contentious issue.
Don't worry, there are plenty more conflicting ideas within the conservative base. Like how conservatives in general hate "free-loaders" yet despise the healthcare mandate or how red states are the biggest abusers of welfare.
The social issues of the conservative movement are co-opted red herrings designed to coerce people into voting against their own financial interests. Money will always be in the minority, so, they need to recruit others into their voting block. Financially backing these issues is profitable.
Yes! Just look at the biggest Republican base... your average Bible Belt middle class American. How does deregulation of banks or lower tax rates for the rich benefit them? Republicans are masters of mind control and cater towards their base's emotions throwing scare words like socialism or terrorism around. They will focus on social issues that will rile up their hive mind base such as abortion or gay marriage in order for their followers to look past issues that actually that might literally help them.
