I guess? That's a pretty serious interpretation of a light-hearted commercial. The entire point of the commercial is to highlight the accessibility of the features. Just because you're not tech savvy doesn't mean you're inept or foolish.

but isn't the selling point of Macs that you don't need a genius to figure out how to use the software to do things?

IMO, these commercials reflect poorly on Apple instead of Mac users because they aren't very good. Coming on the heels of the Zoey Deschanel and Samuel Jackson Siri nonsense, Apple seems to have lost some of it's creative touch in advertising.

One of them, yes. But I think you're running up against the wall of what's general interface (OS) stuff and what's software specific. I believe that their ads are mainly referring to the operating system vs windows.

If you try to make a comparison of what's easier to use, iPhoto or Photoshop, to a novice who has never used either then iPhoto is obviously easier.

Probably starting to see all the scrapped stuff by Steve Jobs. The playing field should even out soon. This is good for the consumer

They are saying you have to be a dumbass to not be able to use iOS.

Then they show us some examples of dumbasses.

Why is that good for the consumer? Instead of a challenger rising up, Apple is just coming down.

Say what you will about Jobs, but he put out some great products.

It makes sense. Owning an iProduct is proof that you're more susceptible to influence from advertisements.

Wait wait wait. Is there some sort of discord between Mac and PC owners?

Doesn't that ad go against the whole notion of owning a mac, because it is supposedly so user friendly you don't need a techie for help? Steve Jobs is turning over in his grave right now...

This post was brought to you by my Mac. Yes, I now own a mac as well. Don't worry, I got it for free.

these ads are probably out because 72% (46 + 26) of their revenue is coming from iphone and ipad.

what i mean is...anything can happen with those two products. more competition from android/window phone devices..consumers getting tired of things etc. unless they have something wowing coming with the new iphone..things are about as good as they are going to get.

so they are probably trying to make people aware..hey we will other things too!

That's the description from the Mayday commercial. Sajan makes a good point. If Macs were marketed as being so simple to use, these commercials don't display that message.

I mean there's only 2 ways to slice this. Either they are saying Mac users are so dumb they can't even figure out the software without someone's help..or Mac software is not easy.

If Microsoft had any balls they would counter with something like..Windows 8, You don't need a genius to use it.
