The reason this rare moment of non-poll tested, non-teleprompted candor from Obama has been so utterly devastating to his campaign is that is perfectly encapsulates his anti-business mindset. It validates what frustrated small business owners already suspected -- that Obama is not concerned with promoting private businesses in the United States, but rather concerned with promoting large government and government dependency.

The rest of the speech was even worse than the line in question! Talking about not getting to success on your own, that there are a lot of smart people and you're nothing special, saying that you didn't work harder than others -- there are so many insulting lines in that speech. Being lectured on business by someone like Obama who has no accomplishments or experience in the business world is just revolting. Why on earth should anyone listen to this guy on business? Listening to Obama talk business is like listening to a dumb chick talk football. LIKE LISTENING TO A DUMB CHICK TALK FOOTBALL.


But the best part of the speech? The best part is that a good chunk of it was delivered in Obama's bizarre southern accented, stand-up comedian meets angry preacherman style of speaking, with the crowd chirping in after every few words with spirited feedback (aka incoherent babble). It's like he should be ending every thought of his anti-business rant with, CAN I GET AN AMEN? Are the chickens coming home to roost?

 

Only to people who didn't listen to the six words preceding the quote that has your panties in a wad.

 

Or listening to t_j talk politics.

 

TJ is right. Obama is clearly a communist who is pulling the wool over everyone's eyes. His true plan is to create a true red state - Red as in hammer and sickle.

He hates business. He speaks out against business all the time. That's why he called Steve Jobs a corrupt demon. The tea party is our only hope to save the republic.

 

Indeed, Obama is a black man with black intentions.

I think this will backfire on Romney. He's making it such a big part of his attack, people are going to listen to the entire speech from Obama and realize that Romney cut out key worlds. And that will only add to the suspicious secretive air surrounding Romney. You just can trust him.

Yes, it was. All you have to listen to is the sentence immediately before and the one immediately after the one y'all are highlighting and it is very clear what he was saying.

Not only are you dead wrong on the point quoted above, but when you listen to the entirety of the speech, it just further solidifies that argument that Obama believes in government, and not free enterprise and small businesses. He believes that the government is the best way to invest, and obviously this comes at the expense of hard working, risk taking American businesses owners who pour their life into their small business. Not only does the full context of the speech confirm this, but so does Elizabeth Warren's speech from around two months ago -- a speech that was heralded by lunatic fringe libpig websites like DailyKos and the Huffington Post.

The other problem with the speech is the imagery. You've got a clear contrast. A CLEAR CONTRAST. A contrast between hard working Americans who build businesses and work hard versus parasitic Americans who expect the government to keep showering them with food stamps, welfare, and entitlements. American wasn't built on the backs of these types of parasites -- it was built on the backs of businessmen and businesswomen. The cheers throughout the speech just reinforce this anti-business, pro-handout mentality. It's devastating. And it's why Obama's campaign is panicking and doing their best to distract from this disastrous moment of candor.

I’m always struck by people who think well it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than anybody else. Let me tell you something, there are a lot of hard working people out there. If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have to allow you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The internet didn’t get created on its own. Government research crated the internet so that all of the companies could make money off of the internet.

So let's see here:
1. He insults the intelligence of small business owners.
2. He says they didn't work as hard as they thought.
3. He says that they didn't build their businesses.
4. He gives them no credit.

What an incredible insult to so many Americans. The man is a total joke and needs to be replaced immediately.

 

I'm sorry you have no connection to reality.

1. He says that there are a lot of smart people, he didn't "insult" anyone.
2. He says that a lot of people in this country work hard, never claimed successful people didn't.
3. He CLEARLY says that they DID build their businesses.
4. He points out that in addition to the credit they deserve themselves, some credit should go to the help they received from a variety of places.
