Kobe and his below average shooting is nowhere in this discussion.

Durant scored more points with higher efficiency last year.

Also, LeBron is not a great outside shooter.

3x reigning scoring champ in weak scoring eras.... Lebron has had two seasons where he averaged 30+ points. Also without Westbrook Durant will get constantly double teamed. Lebron's second best player was Mo Williams and the East is weaker than the West but boasts better defensive teams.
Also lol at the person who said Durant is more efficient than Lebron. Only in terms of TS% which favors jump shooters.....

    Pure 1 on 1, Kobe;
    Pure shooting, Durant.

Uh, LeBron has one of the highest TS% for his position.

If you aren't talking TS%, then what are you talking about?

Besides, jumpshooting is part of "pure scoring." LeBron is better at everything else, but when looking just at scoring, I'll give it to Durant.

To me, it's a toss up between Melo and Durant. I'll go with Melo since Durant has yet to show any semblance of a post game.

53% shooting vs almost 50% shooting.... I fail to see how he scored more efficiently. Lebron has a higher EFG%, Durant a higher TS%. Lebron is not a great outside shooter but he is above average. TS% favors jump shooters anyway.

I mean that Durant was only more efficient than Lebron in terms of TS% and that is because TS% favors jump shooters.

Melo is just as gifted in terms of physical measurements as anyone you mentioned above. He is built like a 4 but plays the 3.

Nope, not necessarily. TS% also favors people who draw fouls and score a lot of baskets around the rim.

Do you think that Tyson Chandler is a great jump shooter?

LeBron is not a great outside shooter, I agree. Which is why I wouldn't call him the best "pure scorer" in the NBA.

Hopefully sometime towards the end of next season when the playoffs are clinched and there's nothing else to play for...Eric will tell Lebron to take a game and try to score every time he touches the ball. I'd like to see another 100 point game...one done in a way more efficient fashion than Wilt...to break Wilt's record. Lebron could do it in 3 1/2 quarters.

Shaq must be a jump shooter.

Carmelo Anthony is one of the most overrated pure scorers.

What is the definition of a "pure' scorer anyway

In his prime? Kobe... No one is more creative. But right now it has to be Durant and Melo.

What makes Melo the best pure scorer? Most people knock Lebron in a pure scoring discussion because of his outside shooting yet he has a better 3 point percentage for his career over Melo.

Melo has had 3 seasons where he shot less than 30% from 3. How is he the best pure scorer? I have never understood it. He's a great scorer but he has never been the best pure scorer.

How does the best pure scorer never lead the league in scoring when all he does is focus on offense?

You love him jacking up free-throw jumpers on the fast break with nobody in position to rebound?

Durant is like dirk except with a better shot. He can't be blocked at his height. I don't think he versatile like Kobe, but who cares if you can shoot over everyone and not miss.
