Maybe because he has struggled to be even that, save for the stretch in NY where he got an opportunity only when they were replete with injuries. True, but two of those coaches also let him go (and the third only started him out of necessity). Lin has potential, but who has he ever beaten out for a job, starter or otherwise? I believe the article is spot on at this point, but I'm hoping for some delightful surprises as the season progresses.
I agree with some aspect of the article but as of right now Lin cannot be perceived as a back up especially after what he did in New York and that fact that Morey had to alter his offer to Lin to stop New York from matching. Omer Asik on the other would be considered a back up, but on this team who knows what he might do with starter minutes.
Actually the reason they played him aside from the injuries was because in practice he was crushing the other pg's playing with the second team. That is why he played so well with those guys when he started because he practiced against the starters with the bench unit. He beat out Baron davis, Tony Douglas. Not great pg's by any stretch of the imagination but he still beat them. Plus he kept his starting position once guys were healthy even He also outplayed a few opposing pg's when he started as well. Not everyone has to do what Lowry and Dragic did.
This is called PR "damage control." Broussard is a prime example of a PR "media dog." He doesnt need to go out and look for a story. Stories will come to him via.......'sources.' ARF, ARF....WOOF, WOOF..............
Says who? Baron Davis was out with a back injury when Lin began starting. He didn't make his season debut until Feb. 20th. Toney Douglas wasn't even in the rotation. To be clear, I'm not dumping on Lin. I'm expecting/hoping for him to be at least solid. I just think an honest and objective look at his brief career history gives credence to those that question the fanfare and wild expectations around here.
Yep, this article is staying the fact, yet it is biased. In the article, the facts are selective, and Broussard never make any analysis of the stayed facts. It is just like he is saying Nelson Mandela is black, and he went to jail end of the article no more fact. That is stupid.
Not to mention that Broussard was the freaking guy saying staying in Orlando would be a better option to Howard than going to Houston. he is a *******.
Says me. My boyfriend is a MAJOR knick fan and as a result I know way to much about that team. Way more than is healthy to be honest. But I digress. It was reported by everyone, the GM, the Head Coach his teammates (Tyson, Melo,) the practice coach that Lin was killing it in practice and that is why they gave him a shot. They weren't sure it would translate from practice to the NBA but as we all saw he translated well. Yes Baron was experiencing back problems but when he was healthy Dantoni frequently tossed him and Lin out there in the back court together. Lin kept his starting pg spot despite Baron's improved health. The media speculated that Baron would start over Lin because of he had more experience but that was never the case. And I know you are not dumping on Lin and you are more than entitled to your opinion. I am just sharing mine. I don't have wild expectations for him and to me the fanfare "Linsanity" is cute and all but is not at all indicative of his actual talent. I see him for what he is a young guard with a very high ceiling. His career maybe be brief but his style of play has been consistent from HS to the NBA ie dribble drive and penetrate, break down the defense high BBIQ great court vision and underrated athleticism and speed. Unless he becomes slow, fat, blind and dumb I am confident that he will continue where he left off just before injury ie playing at a solid level. But that is just me.
...said it before, will say it again - Broussard is a hack. I would be willing to bet he weaseled his way to Akron, attached himself to Lebron's crew and rode his coattails on the way to becoming an "NBA insider" to the biggest sports star of his time. Okay fine - he might know some guys in the NBA, and he may have sources but I think he probably only has a handful of sources within the CAA umbrella. It's clear when you hear him speak about basketball that he has an Isiah Thomas like understanding of how to put together a team and furthermore, he is clearly lacking in knowing a lot about the game of non-stars in the league like Asik & Lin. I know he actually played college ball (at Oberlin I think) but Gerald Green also plays pro ball and we all know that guy is a moron.
Lol. As informed as you may be, by virtue of your boyfriend's love for the Knicks, I'm afraid that doesn't quite make you a "reliable source." I have no worries about that part of his game whatsoever. I saw that potential in him during his brief time here last season. He has proven that he can excel with lesser talent around him and left to his own devices. What concerns me is how much can he improve his playmaking ability and will he be able to adjust and adapt his game when the Rockets eventually improve the talent around him.
I like how he ignores that we've had a tendency to grab bench players and make them solid starters (hmmm Lowry and Dragic come to mind). But like everything he says I usually ignore it.
Yes I do. They were going to trade him to Toronto I believe for Mike james. The GM of the Knicks confirmed it and Brian Collangelo of the Raptors said that talks had begun. I am not a CBA expert so I don't know how it works but yes I am aware that he was going to get cut. That is why I laugh when my BF said Lin was disloyal to NY. There ain't no loyalty in sports. Shaq just said it himself.
Lol. There was an article I read about it. To lazy to start searching. Believe me or not. Even Tyson said it in one of the post-game interviews when they asked did you know he could do this, oh and Novak said it as well that he would out play Baron Davis in an interview I saw on the internet. If you want I can find it for you if you don't believe me. In regards to the last point yup I totally hear you. I guess we will all find out huh whether he can take the next step or not. I am curious to see everyone take the next step not just Lin. Dragic in particular matter fact. Being the permanent starting pg on Nash's former team isn't easy. Big shoes to fill.
Chris Broussard is a mediocre reporter while Morey is an above average GM of an NBA team. I think I'll wait before passing judgement..
