Im not in the US and I tried that site, but doesnt work with some sites, I tried with justin.tv didnt work, also didnt work with abc, cbs, nbc.
About a week ago I called up Suddenlink. Told them I wanted to cancel my tv portion of my cable service. They offered giving it to me for $20 less (HD DVR etc.). I declined. Then she told me I can get basic cable and my current internet for the same price that just internet would be. So I still have basic cable. Although, I'm strictly using Netflix and veetle now. ....and demonoid.
AceVPN works really well. It's what my family uses for ABC.com and Hulu etc. (they're in the middle east) http://www.acevpn.com/
I've been using PlayOn since Saturday and it works pretty well. I went ahead and signed up for the service. The issues I've noticed so far are: It wasn't able to log onto Netflix. Seeking is pretty bad, trying to go forward or back more than a few seconds doesn't work. It's easy enough to get it to stream to my phone, and the quality over Wi-Fi is good, but is pretty much unwatchable over 3G. I've been able to watch stuff from Amazon, Hulu, ESPN3, Crackle, and movies on my PC without any issues.
I'm a little confused. If you pay for Netflix you should be able to get it on any device without another service on top of it. I think Netflix is on everything now.
You're right, this is just a service to organize a bunch of different streaming services. So PlayOn with a Roku or PS3, or whatever other device supports it just makes it easier to get everything onto your TV. Netflix not working isn't that big of a deal since the PS3 has an app for it. And it seems like a lot of what PlayOn does is already done by Roku.
bump... so think i want to do this cable cutting/roku thing, was wondering whats the best model of roku to get? looking at their site, the roku LT and roku HD are just fine (dont need ethernet port or USB port) but whats the difference between the two? besides the price and the color?
