Was not at the Lin intro press conference. Also not at the Asik press conference. Maybe I am paranoid, but is something up? Is he not as excited about Lin and Asik as the front office is? Is he not happy unless/until the team acquires a more experienced star?
awesome thread. haven't seen kelvin sampson or sweet suzie around either. mind starting some threads for them too?
Tell me this isn't unusual for the head coach to miss both pressers for the two biggest $ FA signings. There have also been things (including comments that are and are not public) that may indicate that the head coach and the front office are not in complete agreement as to the direction of the team.
Oh, right. This is a 'dumb' thread while the other threads on the board are better. We're not getting any news right now. Props to Carl for bringing up something half interesting. And while correlation may not always equal causation, I'd say Carl's lot of rep + this thread > the haters little rep + b****ing. I'm not going to get too excited though until McHale disappears from the bench.
McHale openly said that he is excited to work with Lin in a discussion at Summer League. Haven't heard him say anything about Asik. What comments were made?
Maybe he couldn't find the place. I know I would be totally lost after my team got gutted, with most of my starters all gone.
Comments by MCHale and Morey about the value of vets. Reports about McHale not happy about losing Goran. Stuff said to kids with a poster.
Probably all it is .Why should he fly over 1000 miles for a 10 min introduction. He probably spoke to him on the phone and welcomed him to the team.I'm sure this is a guy Mchale would be happy is joining the team
You probably saw this video already but he sounded excited about the possibility of working with Lin and playing the young guys. If he is indeed in disagreement with the direction of management it isn't that big of a deal because regularly the coach and management do not always agree. http://www.nba.com/video/games/rockets/2012/07/18/1521200031_chi_hou_mchale_intv.nba/index.html
I'm pretty sure McHale and the rest of the rockets coaching staff were still in Vegas when the Lin presser happened.
