Completely, totally irrelevant. Dwight doesn't get to LA or New York unless we or Orlando help him get there. Which we won't, and I doubt Orlando does either.

That money is ALREADY off the table, so it does not enter into the equation.

If that is true, they guy was a freaking idiot to sign that extention. Even if you cut that figure in 1/2 - the guy was a freaking idiot. You don't want Houston? So what, it's for 3 months...maybe less if your "back is hurting" and you can't play. Hello NY and big cash money. End of saga.

i dont understand he would be willing to Sign With Mavs but not Rockets.. this is just funny to me... Houston being the biggest City in Texas, more Hall of Famers, more Championships.. Better looking woman, more things to do.

just crazy.. I refuse to believe this.... Especially knowing Houston can make him big in China...

He can't be traded to Dallas because they literally have nothing of value to trade ORL.

From Orlando's standpoint, of course. But Brooklyn didn't have anything of value to trade Orlando, either, and that didn't stop Dwight from making them his only option (at least at first). It doesn't matter to Dwight what a team can or can't trade. He's just worried about himself. If he legitimately wanted to go to Dallas, he'd express an openness to be traded there now.

absulutely agree with you.... Theres no way he would leave Houston for Dallas. just doesnt make since.. ..

he will be a Houston Rocket soon... Just the best case scenario... And at the end of the day, just like Deron Williams will re-sign..

That hasn't stopped him from demanding a Brooklyn trade up until about a week ago. I think the fact that he isn't requesting Dallas right now is telling.

Exactly. I don't believe it either. It's a ploy to try and scare off Morey and allow a Dwight-to-LA deal to happen this summer. That's the end goal of Dwight's camp and they'll say or threaten anything, no matter how illogical, to try and make that happen. The Mavs just happen to be a team with max cap room next summer, so they're the team that gets thrown in.

This. If Bynum leaves ORL, they will have effectively sold Dwight Howard for Steve Blake.

I seriously Think Henningan will trade him to the Rockets... If he wants the support of his fans, he will need to make the best trade for the Magic, not give in to demands of a superstar that is damaging the organization.
If he gives in he will be hated by alot of people... (also what happen to the new CBA agreement to try and keep the superstars together..) Wasnt it why Chris Paul got refused to LA.... I also think The league has some pressure on this issue and is pulling for a Rocket trade...

Would Howard consider signing next summer as a free agent in Dallas next Summer???

I think its questionable at best. Truth is, we all have no idea how important money really is to Dwight personally, and if he is truely willing to give up 30Mil guaranteed over the life of his next deal in order to "just get out of Orlando."

The average person would tell you that based on human nature's past history, there is a very low probably that Dwight is telling the truth here.

That being said, its something we cannot quantify and know exactly.

However, one thing we do know for certain is that in this current situation its a fact that Dallas is completely being used for leverage in a negotiation. I have ZERO doubt about that, as would anyone else that knows anything about NBA, free agent/trade negotiations.

Is Dallas being used as leverage???---- ABSOLUTELY
Does he have interest in going to Dallas???.... Not likely, but possible

He probably has more intersest in resigning with Houston for 30 Mil more than signing with Dallas at a less amount..... (He just wont say it now)

If Dwight is traded here, we will be the ones now hosting the latest edition of "Dwightmare" that Orlando is going through right now.

Frustrating opening season filled with threats and demands from Dwight to be traded to Brooklyn before the trade deadline.

Then when Summer of 2013 rolls up, we will be filled with more threats that we S&T Dwight to another team, or lose him completely to FA.

In the end, Dwight will win.

Dwight can afford missing out on that extra year of his contract, but the Rockets cannot afford mortgaging our whole team's future to get nothing back in return.

I don't think Dwight gets it. Sure, LA wants him...sure Brookyn wants him - I mean EVERY team wants him, but these teams have not done what it takes to get him.

If this were Lebron and he had said, "I want to get to Brooklyn", you think they would have traded the #5 pick for a player the caliber of Gerald Wallace(ignoring the fact they play the same position)? Hell no, they would have done ANYTHING to free up space/assets to make a trade happen. By trading for Johnson, & signing Lopez they said that retaining Deron Williams is more important than obtaining Dwight....and none of the other teams in the league(LA included) have done anything to free themselves up for a run at Dwight...EXCEPT Houston.

...this is real glaring point here. Houston has Dwight/Orlando in a corner here because they are the ONLY team that has put themselves in that position. Other teams were holding firesales for Lebron, conserving their cap space etc and Houston is the only team willing to do that for Dwight.

Dwight needs to ask himself, if LA really wanted me...if Brooklyn really wanted me, wouldn't I be there right now? Right now Dwights at the aiport waiting for someone to pick him up and Houston is standing there with open arm and Dwight is stubbornly waiting for someone else who isn't coming. Ya, he can just walk to them but what are you really gaining by doing that?

What does this mean for Houston.... There is "some risk" involved with trading for Dwight.

Was there ever 0% chance of risk involved before????

If Im Houston, just like all other reports have been, I would take it with a grain of salt and continue to make the best move available. Whether it be accepting some amount of risk, or settling for second best while STILL retaining the exact same amount of risk just because there was a report from Woj. that threw Houston's name in as a possibility for Bynum to pursue in free agency.

Only up to the trade deadline, when Dwight's bird rights expire. I think there will be some jockeying for position up to that point, we just have to have faith in Morey to keep things amenable while at the same time calling Dwight's bluff.

Probably not true. If the bird rights thing and 5 year max deal wasn't of key importance to Dwight he would never have opted in with the Magic and would already be a Brooklyn Net right now. I think after Morey calls Dwight's bluff at the deadline things settle down and he winds up re-signing just like D-Will did.

The Rockets wouldn't be mortgaging our whole team's future, lol. All Dwight has succeeded in doing is driving the price down. The Rockets will give up a moderate-sized chunk of assets but still keep the majority of them. In return, we'll get a superstar.
