The NBA will never have true parity until a hard cap is put in place, or said cap is reduced. Until that happens, there will always be stars demanding to team up with other stars, forced trades, super teams, and ultimately about 6-7 true contenders.

Latest in a long line of threats to scare of anyone (us) from getting in the way of his Brooklyn/LA dream.

And at this point, I no longer care. He's demonstrated well enough to me that it's more than getting out of Orlando, he's like Carmelo and is dead set on his destination. I'd rather get a high lottery pick, keep the Raptor pick, and build from within.

I hope Morey is taking things off the table everytime they leak crap like this to the media. Hennigan can find himself with a quarter on the dollar deal for all I care.

I've been steadfast in my belief that if we get Dwight he'd stay, but I'm no longer so sure. If Morey and Les believe he would bolt, I'd rather them do nothing. Don't help him get to LA. I'd rather keep the players we have and hope that Orlando ultimately deals him to Brooklyn.

Agreed. Unfortunate that the owners blew their chance at a hard cap and won't get another chance for at least 10 years, if I understand it correctly.

I haven't been following the 5000 page DH thread religiously, but this is the first I've heard that Dwight would be willing to sign with the Mavs once his contract expires. That just sounds to me like another slap in the face to Houston. What's up with that? Did Morey knock up his mom or something? I mean, first he signs an extension with ORL just so he wouldn't get traded to HOU at the trade deadline last season, and now this... the guy must REALLY hate H-town.

probably thinking that the Rockets are being underhanded...when really its his immature behavior that is ruining his image and league...forget his brand...in the US...other than the city he ends up playing in...Howard will never get as big...This garbage has been much worse than the "Decision" IMO

Dallas now...? My brain hurts. I hate you Howard...not because of Dallas but just because I hate you.

Yep...the owners seriously blew it. For a league that's all about wanting to equalize the teams in the league, the lottery system and their lack of a hard cap are just seriously dumb ideas. Once this CBA ends, it'll be another uphill battle. The owners should have held out for as long as possible until they got their demands. They lost the battle because they saw potential dollars and fan support flying out the window, when the reality is, people would have still come back once the NBA started back up again. No doubt.

Regardless, whatever happens happens, but the NBA needs to do some serious thinking between now and whenever a new CBA needs to be agreed on, because with the system in place now, you will NEVER see a truly competitive league.

I mentioned it before and it bears some repeating: Dan Fegan has had an acrimonious relationship with the Rockets in the past. I always thought it was a Dawson-Fegan thing. Maybe it was. But maybe Les-Fegan would be an easy extension of that, of who didn't get along.

Granted, Morey long ago replaced Les, but clearly Fegan is steering all this: to Brooklyn (with Deron W., his other client); to LA Lakers (Dwight probably avoided them in the beginning to not have the Shaq comparisons); to Dallas (Fegan and Cuban have a good slap-and-tickle thing going).

So, if Fegan is telling Dwight that the Rockets blow, their owner eats a** but not in a good way, Morey must seem semi-hellbent on getting his turn at the table (look, I know Mr Fegan here etc etc)....or he'll relent and go in another direction (either 3-way trade for Bynum or, well, whatever else).

EDIT: Anyway, I don't want Howard. If you're gonna trade some of our great young haul from these last two drafts, get someone who wants to be here, or who isn't so blindly led by the nose by his agent (that's a tougher one, I'll admit).

Seems like most people think this is just noise put out by Howard's camp, but imagine if this actually played out:

We give up good, young players and future draft picks.
Get Howard for a year. Make it to, say, the WCF before getting knocked out (best case scenario, IMO).
Then Howard leaves us for Dallas.

How awful would that be? It is hard to imagine something worse than that.

LOL, I never could have thought someone could top "The Decision" for poor offseason planning and decision making but Dwight has proved to be an immature dumbass of spectacular proportions.

Yeah, I'd give up the farm to get to a WCF. The city would go crazy!
