What would the third team do, take on salary and supply the picks while Dwight goes to LA and Bynum goes to Orlando? I can see the line forming already.

No idea how they would incentivize a third team to facilitate the trade. LA could take on a bad contract and give up Bynum, but that's about it. Agreed its a long-shot

Now that Hennigan does not hold the leverage, if indeed theres a deal to be had with the Rockets, I dont see Morey overpaying for a rental even if were willing to trade without any assurances. We get to keep DMo and Parsons, possibly have the Magic pick of 1 of the 3 rooks, PPat, Morris, a couple of the 1st rd picks and a couple of the 2nd rounders. This drama is unfolding to the Houston's favor.

I wont be surpised if we get to keep all our rookies, but highly improbable. I dont foresee this Dwightmare dragging up to the beginning of training camp. Hopefully we get a resolution one way or the other.

I will be very surprised if orlando gm gets a deal considered 'great' at this point for howard. i think he is looking at the possibily of getting an 'ok' to 'bad' deal. welcome to the nba henning (sp?)

Anyone else kinda wishing that we held off on signing the rookies? But I guess this was Morey's way of putting Hennigan's nuts on the dresser.

Since LA can’t do anything without help, I see no need for anyone to facilitate for them right now. They have no cap room and no picks to offer. If a third team has to take on the contracts and provide the picks, why not just trade for Howard themselves?

It appears that things are at a standstill because Morey has made his offer and is not coming off it and there is no need to. The only real leverage that Orlando has would be the willingness to wait until January when they could restart talks with the Nets. While most scoff at the Nets offer, it’s hard to know what Hennigan values. That’s a plan that could backfire on him and he could end up with less than is being offered now. Were Lopez to reinjure himself or Howard not be able to play at high level, he could end up with nothing. And there is no guarantee that the Rockets will still be available as a backup plan at that point.

So until January 15th or whenever Bynum signs an extension, the Rockets are completely in the driver’s seat. Morey has pretty much left his offer and his number and said, “call when you’re ready.”

Not at all. They can reach an agreement anytime. (Orlando/Houston)

As all of these, "don't you do it, Houston" threats keep pouring out of Dwight's mouth, it does nothing but give Houston Leverage.

It drives the price tag down for Houston in any scenario. If Dwight wants out of Orlando and Bynum refuses to extend in Orlando, Morey becomes a necessary evil w a stacked deck.

The NBA is the Owners' league. They write the rules. If you want to make millions of dollars playing a game, you play where the rules say you play.

Anything that involves more than two parties is politics. Everyone promotes their own most extreme interest until a deadline requires a compromise. The decision is usually made for the best interest of the majority of power.

A Houston/Orlando trade is the only likely outcome. Dwight has effectively (purposely?) limited his value to that of a rental so the price won't be too bad. We Rocket fans just need to chill out and let the deadlines come to us. At this point all the outcomes are positive for us 1. Howard, 2. Bynum. 3. a big step toward a rebuild.

High on top of a mountain there stood an old bull and a young bull.

Both of them were leering at the young heifers down in the valley quite a distance away.

The young bull was snorting, huffing and puffing, pacing back and forth, etc.

Finally, after a while, the young bull said...

"Say, why don't we run down this mountain and have our way with one of them?"

The old bull pondered for a moment, smiled, leaned over, and calmly said...

"Why don't we walk down the mountain and have our way with all of them!"

I feel bad for the Magic organisation and the new GM in particular, he is going to be held accountable if he takes any deal because he has no leverage at all. He is now probably more desperate so who knows what the deal is now. Morey might tell him hey, you want him gone so bad, we'll only take 1 bad contract and you can't have Lamb. I don't see how LA ends up with him but neither did any1 believe Gasol would be so easily obtained so we'll see. A 3-way with us getting Bynum is out of the question I think.

In other words, they can reach a binding agreement before the players are eligible to be traded?

Yes. I believe that's what happened in the Artest trade with Donte Green. They reached an agreement, and the trade was official mid August.

It means that he'd want to be traded to the Lakers now, or traded to Brooklyn in January. This tweet was a summary of an article that came out yesterday.

Translation Dwight wants to win a title with LA this year then have them trade him to the Nets.

Translation of the translation: Dwight is a spoiled brat who wants it all and wants it now.

Man I wish Isiah was Orlando's GM at the moment, although looking at their roster and contracts it makes sense

If Dwight does walk to Dallas (why the hell would he do that? seems like it's just agents blowing smoke), it would create a mini-Lebron drama that would be very interesting, at least.

and that's the truth of it. The clock is ticking. Henny knows it, and Morey knows it. Morey's just gonna wait him out.

But i have to admit, with all the noise Howard's camp is making about Dallas, it really does make me nervous about giving up a lot of value for him. Fortunately i trust Morey to be prudent.
