right mediocre again, and he is doubtful to not get injured again when rockets reach the prime? wearing a lakers jersey and say you are a rockets fan just isn't going to work.

Wasn't an insult, serious ? because you are making ZERO sense ..

No one give's a **** what lakers fans think of us, or if a "rivalry" exists .. The fact is that the lakers are in the western conference . your family members being lakers fans,or lakers fans on some forum, don't mean anything at all ..the thing that matters is that you are helping a team that you'd have to go through get significantly better ... how do you not see that ?

I believe Bynum is probably in it for the money. Whoever offers him a 5 year max contract wins. I really don't think he cares where he plays, it is a job to him.

If over average age for the team was about 25, we could gamble on Bynum. But we aren't.

Another example of you blindly believing everything the media tells you. Byron Scott and more importantly David Lee (Bynum's agent) refuted this report.

Something good will come of this.

What we have they need is draft picks. With this many rookies and our own first next year, we're set with youth.

    martin+picks+bad contract+all the cut-table non-guaranteeds

    Resistance Is Futile!

I agree. At this point I wouldn't care about what Howard wants. Honestly, the Magic should do what is in their best interests. BUT, what bothers me about the whole situation is:

    1) Howard apparently really really really does NOT want to come to Houston. Its actually pretty insulting to the city and the organization, which has been a top organization in the past with a great history of big guys. I can't remember another situation where a player was so adamant against Houston. It's offensive to the fans and NBA in general.

    2) It bothers me that so many news outlets write about Houston being an absolute "no" from the Howard camp. Makes us look bad as a team and city and who knows how it could theoretically impact future free agents view of the Rockets?

    3) If Dwight was "forced" into playing for Houston, would he give his all? Would he sit out? (due to injury or other?) Would the fans receive him? Is the ensuing circus worth it for an ENTIRE NBA SEASON as the speculation would continue as to where he will play next year?

I'm beginning to think it's not worth it and we sign Bynum for less. I know its Dwight Howard but its also Dwight "who doesn't want to play for Houston" Howard. Does that help the team? Does it?

Bynum is a 1-year rental who could end up leaving next summer, not to mention his injury history.

Actually it does matter in the context that they are not our rivals. Usually teams don't do deals with rivals in any sport. Rockets are not rivals for the Lakers. Rocket fans may hate the Lakers but so does most of the league.

Are you aware that Morey was going to help the Lakers get Chris Paul last year and take back Pau Gasol? This was a done deal. Maybe you should be asking Morey this question.

I think most smart GMs realize you have to worry about improving your team first.

Chances of Bynum signing with the Rox are higher than the chances of Howard signing.

All things considered...Bynum is the safer bet since he, nor his agent haven't put out any "I refuse" blurbs in the media, thus far.

I was under the impression that DM did not have a statue so the analogy seems off unless one has been erected recently without my knowledge.

5 year contract, 7.5% raises. That is where he is going. If you do not have bird rights it is not possible.
