Alex Kennedy: Dwight Howard agreed to meet with the Magic, thinking they'd have a coach and plan to improve roster in place. Today, they had neither. now

    Likely nothing.

Scare tactic 'cause they happen to be one of the few teams that will have cap space next year.

So will Utah, but if they say "he'll walk to Utah", their scare tactic is REALLY exposed and everyone laughs.

At least Dallas is halfway believable...lol.

I wish Dwight would have players like Tony Allen and chuck Hayes as teamates so they can shut him up.

    Alright..Howard has lowered his value.to 1 year rental....(recovering injury)

    Martin/Lamb/Morris/douglas + 2 second round picks

    Howard/Richardson/duhoun

Lakers have no cap space/ picks and Bynum not signing extention

What if we're trading away most of that Young Core to get Dwight?

Meh, Dirk is old but he's still a great player as was proven in the playoffs. Having Dwight around will help prolong his career because he'll have to do less as Dwight will be in his prime for another 4-5 years.

Mayo's not trash, just a role player. I guess people call him trash because he didn't meet their expectations.

Still Dwight has proven you don't need much to become a contender. I remember all the people hoping Dallas could win WCF because they would have no chance against Miami, I know it is natural for people to underestimate them here though. But if the get Dwight they would immediately have the better future.

I'm not worried about it. If we trade for him, he either stays with us (30 mil more than anyone else can offer plus overseas endorsements), or he threatens to walk to Dallas, which at that point we can offer a sign and trade to LA for Bynum.

He certainly does. He will walk to the Mavs and make up for his losses in his next max contract. Signing 5 year means he will be 32 when his contract is up, and at that point he is coming out of his physical prime thus lowering chances of him getting another max deal. 4 years = still in prime, guaranteed max deal.

I'm scared of that guy's personality. Not wanting to be traded to a team like Chicago says a lot about that guy's determination to win to me. Prior to Rose going down, Chicago was a great destination with another superstar to play with. At least Lebron went to Miami because he wanted to win. I don't want a player who puts other aspects ahead of winning and it seems like that is what Dwight is doing.

Dwight is thinking more commercial minded then pure basketball competitor championship minded. He wants to win sure but knows it easier playing with 2 superstars or Allstars for that matter. If he does this he knows he can win while really focusing on his #1 priority in commercial/endorsement business. That's what today's star player is unless you draft a Durant. Kobe was the last one that put basketball first in terms of being a pure competitor to get championships #1 and take on all the pressure even when Shaq left.

They also happened to be the 2nd team on his list all last year as well.

The better future compared to what, the Rockets without Dwight? Of course. That's not the comparison. The comparison would be the future of the Mavs with Dwight to the future of the Rockets with Dwight. In my opinion, it's the Rockets that have more to offer, and it's not close.

Everyone should read this^^^This is coming from a Howard fan! Even he knows that it would be a bad idea to trade for someone who doesn't want to be here. Repped!

Nope. I believe bima and other posters have pointed out that this would not be allowed Nader the new cab.

Which is why Howard is terrified. If he is dealt here, his only path to LA is by signing some ridiculous contract for an exception.
