    I hear you.

I've been of the belief he'd re-sign all along. I also believe he'd change his feelings regarding the team and city after a few months too.

But, man... I hate this posturing crap. Almost want it to happen as much for the "F--- you, no PROVE you'll walk" as much as the splash effect!

So the question to me id why now? There haven't been big national headlines about Dwight to the Rockets lately, so why is Woj getting this out there now?

There may be a more benign explanation, but the only reason I can think of is that during his recent visit with the Orlando GM, Dwight and his people were told that Houston is where he is going if he doesn't want to wait until the trade deadline for a trade, or something similar. Maybe he was told Houston would rather have him than facilitate a trade to LA so he isn't going to be traded to the Lakers like he wants. There has to be some reason that not wanting to go to Houston has reentered public discussion.

    Right, financially.

He MAY be referring to the (posturing?) stance from Morey and Les that they're now happy with their team at this point (after the summer league performances and additions of Lin and Asik).

I don't understand these type of posts. They've repeatedly been debunked throughout this and the other 50,000 million Dwight threads in the last month or so.

    IF.DWIGHT.IS.TRADED.TO.HOUSTON.LAKERS.OR.NETS.ARE.NOT.OPTIONS.IN.FREE.AGENCY.

It'd realistically come down to signing a 5-year, 108 million dollar contract with us, or take a 30 million dollar hit to his bank account and sign with the Mavs or the freakin' Hawks for 4 years and less security.

Of course right now he'd rather play in Los Angeles or New York City over Houston. Who wouldn't? But if those aren't options, he'll change his stance on the whole situation. Trade for Dwight.

what is it about dallas that appeals to howard? after all, we have the cap space to afford him, too. the mavericks consist mostly of aging vets and low-upside guys. collison was a good pick up, but not a game changer. mayo is just garbage. the talk about them re-tooling for a title this year is ludicrous.

maybe dwight's camp just wants to hew to the party line for the sake of it. dallas made sense when it was presumptively dwill's destination. now he doesn't want to look fickle.

    How so?

Yeah right now the Rockets have the brighter future but if Dallas gets Dwight fortunes change a bit no?

They may be able to squeeze a championship out of a Dwight-Dirk Duo, Dirk has won with a lot less and Dwight has taken his team to the finals with less as well.

All Cuban would have to do is get better players around Dwight which he's proven he can do.

I'm not willing to risk this. Because watching Howard leave the Rockets to go to the Mavericks...let me say this again...the MAVERICKS is the worst possible scenario anyone could dream up.

I'd be ecstatic then to just help the Lakers get Dwight and take Bynum at this point. If the Mavs get better we are going to remain the 3rd best team in Texas until Dwight retires and Pop retires.

They're not squeezing a championship out of that. The Heat are better than they were a year ago. OKC is much better. Dwight doesn't elevate them to that level, and it'll only get worse at Dirk ages but continues to take up max cap room. Lin, the Rockets' young core and cap flexibility is a much better situation for Dwight than an aging Dirk, OJ Mayo and trash.

Roll the dice on Howard. Call his bluff. I know Fegan hates the Rockets but I dare to tell his client to leave all that money on the floor. I dare him. Specially because I know Morey won't give up the farm for Dwight.

We have the leverage people. Dwight is saying what he has to say to try and get his way, it's posturing. Don't be scared.

You'd think so but the fact that he's never once bought into the whole China angle probably means he doesn't care about it.

It's too large a risk to take. At this point we should be helping the Lakers get Dwight just so he doesn't walk to Dallas in FA. Cuban got lucky with Dirk, if he's not handed another superstar Dallas will go back to being a irrelevant franchise again.

Tony Mejia: DH isn't playing w/Orlando's heart strings, which doesn't help Magic in negotiations going forward. Zero changed. He'll be elsewhere by Oct. 4 minutes ago

So he can be a baby all season long and beg for a trade? No thanks. I trust a lot of players to be professionals and play even though they are unhappy but Dwight is not one of them.

    Yeah, nothing has really changed.

Dwight's "camp" has always maintained he'd likely not re-sign in Houston. They are now beginning to hint at re-signing in L.A., but for the longest time, he didn't want to be there and wouldn't re-sign there either. He had Brooklyn only on his mind.

So, WHY is he NOW trying to angle to L.A?

Because he views it as the BETTER CHOICE, as compared to either staying in Orlando or being traded to Houston.

    His CHOICES changed.

His CHOICES would change again if he's traded to Houston. In a year he will have to truly make the decision to walk away from the thirty million.

It's EASY - VERY EASY - to say he would do that TODAY.

Will he actually do it though? Sure, it's possible, but it's unlikely.

Unless he comes here and really despises it and just hates everything about the team and the city, it's unlikely he'll walk to Dallas (or anywhere).

    All part of the game.
