Of course he doesn't want to be here right now, WHEN THE OPTIONS THEORETICALLY INCLUDE BROOKLYN AND LOS ANGELES.

The question is, where does Dwight want to be when they don't? Such as next summer, when the leading competition would be Atlanta and Dallas?

I don't think anyone is claiming they know for sure that Dwight would re-sign. They're just pointing out the idiocy of folks who act like it's a sure thing that he would not.

Tony Mejia: "@LFC_FLA: Still think Houston is in play?" Everything I'd been told since July 8 has Rockets emerging. LAL in 3way play. Deal must be made now

If Howard gets to free agency in '13 without having been traded to Nets or Lakers, Dallas is overwhelming favorite to sign him, sources say.[/rquoter]

[rquoter]In a meeting with Magic GM Rob Hennigan and assistant GM Scott Perry, Howard was firm that he wanted a deal as soon as possible. Though Howard will not sign an extension, sources say he is open to signing a long term extension with the Lakers after the season. There is a strong push coming from Howard's camp to deal the disgruntled center to the Lakers. Viewed as only realistic possibility.[/rquoter]

No, he wouldn't have extended with quickness.

He would have agreed to sign a new contract after this season with the Nets. Huge difference than extending.

Yes, that ish TURNS ME OFF TOO.

I definitely feel you there. BUT, I also know the talent he is and also have SOME faith that Morey could quickly build a contending team around him and he just might LIKE IT in Houston. Many players who have played here DID.

From the city itself, to no state taxes, to the history, etc.

Sure, the fact he doesn't WANT to play here NOW bothers me.

BUT, it's certainly understandable. When there's the glitz and glamour of Brooklyn (new arena, billionaire owner, Jay Z's parties, richer endorsements, etc), it's easy to understand WHY he or anyone would want to play there as opposed to Houston - not to mention playing with one the best PG's in the league. (as well as the fact our crowd often SUCKS, unless it's the Lakers or Heat in town... not real attractive to a free agent)

Still, it doesn't change the fact that thirty mil is HARD to walk away from - especially if your best options are to play in Dallas with an OLD superstar or go home and play near family (not easy).

I have definitely had the thoughts of "screw him... I don't want this guy on my team", but I don't feel he's ever half stepped on the court. I believe his problem was never really with his TEAM, but with the organization.

He won't quit on his team and in a contract year he won't cause problems or claim to be too hurt to play.

To see so many on here with such strong opinions on what he will or won't do - as if they are in a position to do more due diligence than Morey and his camp, is comical.

Thing is, orlando holds all the cards. They don't have to trade him at all. If he rides the back injury out, they will suck and get a high pick. If he's traded, they will suck and get a high pick. Thing is,howard has to play nice. If he doesn't, they can make him play this last yr out and they don't have to sign and trade him to get max value. Its not really like their bluffing.

Given up so many players for Dwight, is he worth that much? What if he comes to rockets along with lots of drama?

[rquoter]Howard's camp has consistently warned Houston not to trade for him, that he'd march right into Dallas' cap space next summer.

Orlando officials have repeatedly told people they want the kind of knockout package Denver received for Anthony, but will it present self?[/rquoter]

Howard's camp wants for Houston to settle for Bynum and facilitate a Dwight to LA deal. Morey needs to let LA figure it out on their own and move on.

If this doesn't make you hate either (1) Dwight Howard or (2) the Mavericks then you are Mahatma Gandhi!

If I were Orlando I'd just let him walk to Dallas. Do not get him what he wants.
