Asik will immediately produce more value than Dalembert or Camby did last season. Whether he can do play 36 minutes a game is another question.

Asik doesn't pass the eyeball test for me. Actually, his stats look better than what I watched.

I would love to see a breakdown to determine if there is a corelation between favorable opinions of Chuck Hayes and Asik.

I bet there is a pretty significant relationship. Same goes for JVG style ugly ball. I would guess that if you hated, JVG and thought Hayes was a d-leaguer, you won't ever like Asik, and if you were part of the Cult of Chuck, and never forgave less for letting JVG walk, Asik will be your new BFF.

Sounds right. I was a big Chuck Hayes fan, and I've liked Asik since his rookie season. Its rare to see a young player with his size and effectiveness on the defensive end. His lack of offensive polish, to me, isn't a big deal. That's what the other 4 positions on the floor are for.

We should bring back Chuck. Asik, Chuckwagon, and Parsons would be the best defensive frontline in the NBA.

And all it would take is a decent defense to shut us down and we'll lose the game.

But Lin Lamb and Donuts can score. So... what's your point?

Lamb and Donuts will average 45ppg! Hooray! Let's set records.

In all seriousness, no. It's ok to have 3 guys score and everyone else average 7ppg if the three shooters average 20-30ppg.

And even then, you need role players who can go off for 15 every now and then.

How can he not pass the eyeball test when it comes to DEFENSE?

    Seriously?

I love how everyone b****es and moans because of the limited upside on the roster. Then Moarey acquires two players to try and change that dynamic and everyone goes ape **** about some money that isn't even theirs to begin with...

The roster for the past 2-3 seasons has been average at best. Sometimes solid, but never even a wiff of consistency... 'Twas the same song and dance, #14 pick, etc. Enter this offseason: FINALLY a change to the status quo and at least, apparently, some direction. Out with the old, in with the new (except unfortunately, Fairy Martin).

All of the talent and quality depth that has been brought in makes me feel much more secure about the future. But it is crucial that these key pieces aren't thrown away on some #Dwight2Houston pipedream.

Get rid of Martin ASAP and watch these young players grow and develop alongside Lin and Asik.

I wonder if Bynum + Asik is going to work with those contracts. Seems like we would be maxing out the C position. But given Bynum is a glass doll and Asik has low-stamina maybe its the perfect two-headed monster.....

(assuming the latest Howard to LA thing happens via Hou)

I hope we don't trade for Bynum. He's not better than Asik on defense and not better than Donuts on offense. And he has attitude problem and injury history.

I think at this point if the options are Dwight "please don't send me to f**ing houston" Howard and Bynum, I take Bynum. I think its a marginal downgrade over Dwight and he is younger (though possibly injury prone?).

You still do it. i'm over Dwight. curious how Asik/Bynum would work and if paying $8 Mil/yr for a backup center--Aski-- messes with the cap dynamic (see what I did there? I brought it back to the thread topic )

Any chance Asik can play spot minutes at the 4? Thought that might get him more PT if we trade for a franchise center.

Well there was that one epic moment we had to play Yao and Deke on the floor at the same time for a few minutes

But not every role player has to go of for 15 points every now and then. Having a purely defesive player at center is ok for me.

On top of that Mchale liked to go small with a 4 at the center position when the game is on the line. So with our new team Montiejunas will be that guy.

I like this signing, let's see what he can do with starter minutes. Last year many times he closed the games and not Noah.
