This is basically just like the July 1-11 moratorium. Not too much significance. Note the line from the Chron story: http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterocke...o-of-three-first-round-picks-white-and-jones/ Doesn't really change things all that much. If the Magic are ready to accept Morey's package, a deal can be struck later today. Just might have to wait a few weeks for the league to officially process the paperwork. At this stage of the offseason (with virtually all FAs of significance off the market), there's no conceivable need to rush the paperwork/salary cap aspect.
It means nothing, except my Howard splash day prediction of August 24th is wrong by at least 1 day. But it is a nice 'interpretable' move by Morey in that you can interpret it however your bias wants. I do think it is directed at the Magic. It may have just been at the request of the players agents to generate some cash flow for the kids.
Hahahahahah. Now, will this stop the Dwightcasting, or worse, the 2nd degree of Dwightcasting ...Chris Paul? something tells me no.
Could this be done so that in 30 days, when the rookies are eligible to be traded, they aren't just trading draft rights?? They are trading actual contracts to make the cap figures work?? I'm not 100% sure how that works, but if someone could explain that to me, I'd be quite appreciative.
seriously agree. although it's fun to add more ammo to the "Morey treats players like assets" crowd
How will this stop that?? It's only 30 days where we can't trade them. Besides, now the rookies have a tangible cap figure attached to them instead of just draft rights. I don't see how this affects negotiations at all, to be honest with you. If anything, this implies that things are moving.
@Mark Berman Mistake on Furkan Aldemir. Rockets pick not signed. In Turkey. Lamb, White, Jones have signed with Rockets.
I suspect all this Dwight talk is just marketing, a bunch of noise to keep the fan base interested. At least I hope that's the case. Can't wait to see the youngsters mature on the court, and exceed all expectations like Parsons did last year. These kids have skills. With time on the court together, they might eventually do something special. If Morey can get something good (picks) for Martin, this youth movement will be complete.
