I see. Well in that case it's a good comparison. Let's just be happy we have the taller, longer, quicker, younger and cheaper of the two.

 

Asik is good and it is easy to pull up nice vids from YouTube but don't ignore the bad ones like when he was dunk on by Russell Westbrook and Dwight Howard they're there too. Overall good pickup for Rockets especially with where we are as a team with lots of rookies and second year players. Asik will be a big help.

 

Even good defending bigs get dunked on, It's not uncommon for players to get dunked on by Russell Westbrook and Dwightmare.. they do it to everyone. Pretty excited to though about Asik, gonna need his shotblocking and rebounding. If he can somehow develop some offense i'll be really happy.

 

Any defender that is going to go up to block shots will get dunked on. It's happened to the greatest of players and will continue to happen.

I would rather have a 7 footer that actually contests every shot on D then one that backs down and doesn't try to go for the block.

 

If he is getting dunked on that means he is doing his job.

And also, ''Aşık'' means ''Lover'' in turkish. Btw, Ömer Aşık started playing basketball in 15 years old - so late - however he's made considerable improvement since then. i guess it is possible if he turns out to be a 10 ppt/10 rpg player in the league.

He should not be mentioned in the same paragraph as Mutombo.U are all trippin.This dude sucks.People are talking him up like he is a top center.Im happy just because i want to tank and he will defenitely help with that.

 

I can see him being a Mutombo type of player, no fear playing defense and with Montejunas, we don't need another offensive punch. More Lin, more rookies hitting the numbers = more time to build, or create a monster, or two via trade, or what not.

What do we estimate his MPG will be?
What do we need them to be?
And what is the minimally acceptable MPG?
It seems he is going to need a lot of stamina work.

Year 1, he was at 12.1 per game.
Year 2, up to 14.7.

 

Not like he's playing the whole game though remember it has been pointed out he isn't usually playing against starters. With already playing limited minutes to me his statistical expectations are flawed because with him playing more time it's likely he fouls more this causes for adjustments to be made to his game if he can do it quicker the what I think or at all then I'm wrong but we shall definitely see. Of course guys get dunked on I'm just saying lets see what's it like when your not backup and your the guy the other team knows will be in the middle of the paint most of the game.

 

All i'm saying is this guy is not what a lot of people are hyping him up to be until he proves himself to be what he is as a backup in quality starters minutes. Great players have dunked on but Asik is not great right now he is a backup center... A good one but a backup until proven otherwise. I want him to be good but I'm not going to expect it this early IMO he still needs work in lots of areas. Another effort player that hustles.

 

I know I know what I'm talking about you come back to what I said st the end of next season. There will be ups and downs don't be all surprised if there is more downs the ups with Asik next year with it being his first year in the nba starting... That's even on defense. Offense I don't expect much. Overall I expect him to be play hard with a lot of effort and hustle. Mistakes will be made by everyone on the team due to them being young and inexperienced in a number of ways.
