No way Dwight suits up for another game for Orlando. The guy is as concerned about being loved as McGrady was. He would be crushed when the Orlando fans eviscerated him everytime his name was called during the starting lineup and everytime he touched the ball throughout the games.

What makes you think so? He has repeatedly said he wants out of Orlando.

Because so many have said he will not leave that much money on the table.

morey has already won this offseason with the signing of Lin.

He loses nothing. All the pressure is on Orlando gm to get something for howard.

Morey is in the driver seat. He knows what he's doing.

Honestly? Probably not, the thing is we will never get fair value for Dwight. I mean ask yourself; would OKC trade Durant for that or even Westbrook? Even looking back to the Melo trade or the Chris Paul trade...I don’t think that package beats either of those trades and Dwight might be the best player of the 3. Dwight Howard makes the Bobcats right now a 500 team, what ppl don’t understand is Dwight basically makes any inside scoring disappear and the Magic have had zero perimeter defenders in the past 8 years. Teams also get zero second chance shots with his rebounding. On offence he is not very polished but capable of scoring 20 a game..The one year the Magic actually had a couple players that could score we went to the finals. It does not matter even if you guys trade us Dmo, Lamb, White, Jones, Parsons and 2 1st round picks you guys will have a better record than us.

If I was the Rockets I would not give that up without a contract extension from Dwight but in Henny’s eyes and Magic fans eyes, the best thing to do is either hope to change Dwight’s mind or wait for a desperate team. We have till next offseason so there truly is no rush other than avoiding what happened last year and w/o SVG and Otis Smith I see Dwight playing nice. That Package next year would really only give us a pick that we may not have for 4 yrs if the Raptors play well and Lamb who I like but I feel his ceiling is Rip Hamilton. Trading Dwight in a sign and trade would get us a couple of 1st round picks and probably a marginal player, not much different than what is being offered now and it still gives us a small chance of bringing him back or hoping a team completely offers the House for a shot a resigning him or winning a championship at the deadline.

Morey lost Dragic, but picked up Lin, Asik, Lamb, White, and Terrence Jones, plus D-Mo from last year's draft. The Rockets have gotten younger, taller, longer, and more athletic, so you're correct to say that Morey has had a good offseason. This is why he shouldn't F it up by chasing after a star who doesn't want to be here.

    Keep the kids!

I doubt that they think the offers are too low, they just want as much as they can get for him, and waiting potentially helps that cause.

Now that summer league is over, is there any other significant date or deadline until the start of training camp?

The only other outside issues that could impact Orlando are:
    1) A team in pursuit (Houston) makes other plans and abandons their offer, and we know that won't happen. Asik is coming, so that is our backup plan completed. Morey might have another minor deal, but I haven't heard any reports saying so.
    2) Orlando wants to make another deal this summer that the DH situation is stalling.

I don't see that. They could have agreed to a deal already in principal including DMo then just having to wait till the 9th when he can be traded.

I'm with you. if you think D-Mo has allstar potential, you don't give him up for the Dwightmare. Picks, other prospects, and taking back bad contracts should be enough; especially with the market for Dwight being so soft.

Summer league result significantly improved our position. Cav's 4th pick(Waitors) is considered a disappointment, whereas all our rookie's increased their perceived value league wise.

If there's any competition from Cav(possible three way) before, it's almost over now. Actually Lamb/DMo may worth more than a garanteed top10(or even top5) pick in the future at this point.

Just last week in Vegas Clutch stated that when he asked one of the members of the Rockets front office about the possibility of D-Mo being traded they simply winked at him and said "I wouldn't worry about that."

If the Rockets are giving up D-Mo, then that means they are taking away less concessions elsewhere. Its a negotiation, and obviously they aren't wanting to give him away if they think that highly of him to say something like that to Clutch.

Every possibility is on the table to make sure the Rockets get the best possible deal, but from hearing things like this, you get a pretty good idea that he's not someone they are just willing to give up for no good reason.

I would bet the date orlando is looking at is the 30 days after we signed Dmo. I bet they want us to include him in trades-thats why they have decided to "wait."

    Yup.

Our off-season overall has been a success:

Jeremy Lin, Omer Asik, Motiejunas, J. Lamb, T-Jones, R-White, Toronto guaranteed lottery pick > Lowry, Dragic, Budinger, Lee, Dalembert, Camby

We got younger, a lot more talented and better positioned for the future. Not to mention were out of that dreaded mediocrity that we were stuck in.

orlando gm is bluffing. really bad. if this was poker, morey would have already cleaned his arse out.

morey is under no timetable while orlando is. especially how the fans are going to react once howard plays.

If i was morey, i play hardball & give him an ultimatum, take it or leave it.

All the pressure is on Henigan.

We also got rid of 3 atrocious floppers (Lowry/Dragic/Scola), and will hopefully be rid of a 4th by the trade deadline. That in & of itself is a win.

P.S. Not saying I won't miss Dragic & Scola, but their flopping was unwatchable at times.

Yeah, I'm thinking pretty soon will be a good time to throw Henny a SMALL bone and pair it with an ultimatum... "I'm doing you a huge favor adding this to the deal, but my patience is running thin... you have 24 hours. Take it or we walk away from the table."

The dates that the non guaranteed contracts need to be cut are significant for taking back contracts.
