Actually he does have some control in the sense that Orlando can get much more for an extended Howard over a rental.
According to what? Media speculation? Because from Hennigan himself he has said that he talks to Dwight almost daily and the talks are positive/friendly. You sure can, because this has happened many times before. A team fails to build a true contender around their Superstar and he wants out.
Why would they really want to? Martin must be considered in part of a trade for Howard in order to match up contracts...but he's an expiring contract. No team would be rushing to get rid of an expiring contract...bc worst case scenario is that 12 million comes off the books at the end of the year. That's a great worst case scenario for any team.
If we aren't going to base things off of media speculation, we have no reason to believe Dwight wants to be a Laker. The relationship between Dwight and the Magic has soured to levels we rarely ever see, there isn't much question to that. We're getting besides the point anyways, because even if we pretended that your premise is true, your logic about Dwight forcing his way to LA when he wanted nothing to do with them a month ago is just too ridiculous. It is a business and and the Magic are in it for themselves. He would be in Brooklyn if you were thinking correctly.
Apologies for making this more of a DH thread. On insiders: There are really very few insiders. In fact, the real insiders truely don't know what's going to happen until right before it happens. There are three likely possibilities for Dwight next year: 1. He's with the team he wants to play for in 12-13 and resigns for full $ 2. He's NOT with the team he ultimately wants to play for in 12-13 and resigns for full $ 3. He's NOT with the team he ultimately wants to play for in 12-13 and walks for less $ If you're in his shoes (or the shoes of the people that work for him) you do everything in your power (talk in absolutes, play the media, have your insiders spread information) to force #1 so you dont have to make the choice between #2 or #3. But if #1 doesn't happen, not even insiders know what choice he's going to make at the end of the season when he's looking at walking away from so much money.
Well all indications are that Asik will be a Rocket! I think it is a good risk for the Rockets and I am excited to see what how much he can grow in a more prominent role! Wait did I post this on the right thread?:grin::grin:
meh, I think it's more of a platform for cyberx to post. He could have just posted in in the Asik sticky. He made this to discuss his "inside" information.
From another thread: Cyberx called this from way before (heck, this thread was originally about Omer Asik, until it went off on the Dwight Howard tangent). As far as I am concerned, his credibility has gone up a notch. Non-believers can feel free to continue non-believing, but I hope he isn't chased away by any of their silliness.
There were tweets and reports about the Bulls not matching before this thread was started. I do see what you are saying though. If somebody walked up to me claiming to be a psychic, I probably wouldn't believe them. If he said that he'll flip a coin, and it'll land heads, and then it happens, he'll be at least be a little more credible.
I think Dwight DOES walk unless he has some sort of injury that is substantial and Houston goes ahead and gives him the green anyway.
