To me, this is clearly an attempt to create leverage to get HOU to increase its offer. Why? Because HOU is really the only team who needs to be leveraged into a better offer.

If you look at the other candidates, the Nets are already willing to give up everything and take back every contract possible. ORL apparently doesn't like BKN's offer or else a deal would be struck already. Instead, the Nets pulled back.

The Lakers have basically one thing to offer: Bynum. They already gave up all the picks for Nash and have no good young players. There isn't much to negotiate with them.

The "Cavs 3 way" seems to be another attempt at leverage rather than a legit deal. We never heard about it until recently, when news came out that HOU isn't giving the farm for Dwight and has spent little time discussing a 3 way with LAL and ORL.

Really the one team that has more to give but isn't willing to give more is Houston. Morey wisely wants to preserve more cap room and assets to build around Dwight if a deal comes down.

It makes all the sense in the world for ORL to posture right now-- season ain't starting for months, but it also makes sense for HOU to stand firm.

Did I say he wasn't a superstar ? No but I'm also not worshiping the guy like some of you star struck DOF's ;)

He has dominated in a weak conference, don't really see how that can be argued ..He is also a huge liability in the 4th quarter and in big games .. DH is quick to blame everyone else ,but he shares responsibility for his failures.

He wants to be in Houston more than he wants to be in Orlando, which isn't really saying much as he may accept Charlotte, Cleveland or Washington over Orlando at this point in time.

I just realized the magic can easily keep Howard quiet if they tell him they want to trade him to the nets but that they want to see if he comes back from injury. This could backfire, but it gives them time.

I still think Morey will be the one to cave, not Hennigan.

Not disagreeing with you, but why does everyone keep bringing this up? He probably won't stay in Orlando but isn't that the same situation as what he would be in with us next off-season? Hawks, Mavs, Cavs, Us (although with a lot less leverage) Where would he go?

Good I hope he leaves Orlando with nothing and signs with another team. They'll probably end up doing what the Cavs/Raptors did with James/Bosh and do a S&T for a trade exception. Morey will call Orlando's bluff, we might have a better chance to sign him in the offseason if we keep our *talent* and trade Martin for picks or something.

OK, Now I feel even more justified in doing this (but perhaps I was too kind to Hennigan): :(

So Brousards sources are basically creating a way to get Howard to Brooklyn after all? Maybe the realization that Morey was all in on Howard and didn't want Bynum, now has ESPN turning away from the Howard to LA narrative and have gone back to creating ways he can get to Brooklyn.

I dunno, he may still walk because he really really doesn't want to be here. He's already a millionaire after all, making more money on endorsements and what not.

We've already seen superstars usually get what they want even though they're not supposed to have the upper hand.

I thought Kupchak was already on vacation fishing in Alaska. (From watching the Dan Patrick Show at the end of last week.)

How do you know this for certain? Did he tell you this? I think that's the biggest myth that Howard Hates Houston.

Nope, that was David Lee and his client Andrew Bynum. Kupchak couldn't talk extension with them until they got back.
