I'm a gadget guy, always looking out for the next neat thing. Inspired by sites like http://thisiswhyimbroke, http://www.thinkgeek.com, http://theawesomer.com, and tv shows like "I Want That" on DIY, I want to know what's on your Wish List. Some of my wants:

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/cRcKxrIJzB4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Equiso Smart TV - on Kickstarter.com right now, looks very nice with quality workmanship behind it. And if you can still get in on it (closes in 4 days), a great deal at $69.

Pear - Bluetooth adapter for iPod docks. Allows ANY blutooth device (including Android devices) to pair with a iPod dock, supporting A2DP and AVRCP.

Leap Motion - Minority Report, eat your heart out. And at $70? Ridiculously amazing.

I wonder if this would be a good investment.
Buy for $69 and flip the TV when it sells for a much much higher price retail...

Damn. That Equiso thing looks bad ass.

I already have a Logitech Revue.....or I'd jump on that now.

Also spent the $69. I wish I would've jumped on this when it was $39, but I still think it's a great deal!

Actually the Leap looks the most promising here.

The first item seems to me to defeat a large amount of the purpose behind an Android, which is to hold it in your hands, and be able to re-orient the screen when I need to based on the app.

In other words, if my TV is mounted horizontally, then how do I play Temple Run or Coin Dozer? Tilting the device - Does the remote do the tilting that an Android needs? I can see how to play Angry Birds, yes. Does the remote have a multi-touch swipe surface on the back? I guess kind of like a Vita? Too many un-answered questions here, but still a pretty cool idea, and it's a good price.

But that Leap thing, now that is something more with an eye to the future, and looks very intriguing, also an incredibly low price if it does and performs as described.

May have to jump on both of those, just because the price is so good.

I just thought about something: The Leap won't make it.

Humans don't naturally hold their hands up in the air like that. You won't use it for more than... say, a minute or even half a minute before you get tired of holding your hand up in the air, or both if you're doing the two-point maneuvering like the guy zooming into the map. Even the strongest guy won't keep his hands up like that.

    True.

But, people sitting at a desk don't normally do that, you are right.

However, artists, doctors, researchers, composers, people playing games, especially console games or motion-activated games.. all of those people have had to alter what they naturally do in order to sit in front of a computer.

I think this may be a product which actually frees people to more easily do what they really want/need to do, without the filter of sitting and punching a keyboard/using a mouse.

But you are right that that may not end up being the majority of people.

But I can see how for some people it will be a revelation.

I, being a perfectionist a-hole (surprise!), would probably take that idea and bring down the "invisible air screen" on which you work. Make it allow you to draw invisibly on the desk, or on a flat surface, this way your hands/wrists/forearms/arms rest while you "draw."

    For the Equiso...

I will likely be getting a new TV late this year or early next (55" or bigger, LED, maybe 3D). Anyway, couple questions:

    1) Don't many new TVs come as Smart TVs? If so, would you advise getting this? (Or, say, a Roku)
    2) How common are HDMI ports? Probably a dumb question but I've never bought an HDTV before. I have one but it was given to me after my folks upgraded.

I purchased my HDTV in 2008 and it has 4 HDMI ports. I feel that 4 is the minimum for most newer TV's.
