Not really. If it fails we get to FINALLY rebuild, which is what everybody has been wanting.

And hopefully get Andrew Wiggins

If we would have started the rebuild 2 years ago like we should, we would hopefully be on our way up right now.

I think we have about as good a start on a rebuild as you can get right now. Don't want to waste a year on the Dwightmare!

Dwight is worth risking a year of rebuilding. Do you really think it would be that difficult for Morey to get us back to where we are right now?

He will only be Dwightmare if he comes to Houston. At least that is what it will feel like.

No, it wouldn't be hard at all. It would just cost another 4-5 years.

People on this board seem to think that rebuilding is something that is sure to work when we could just as easily be out of contention for 10 years.

Oh man, a new meme of Morey's face on the honeybadger would be sweet.

That's my point, I think we got lucky to get a few of the youngsters we have right now. I think a couple could turn out to be pretty good NBA players, possible all-star calliber. Combine that with a few draft picks the next few years and I think we could have a quick rebuild. If we trade a lot of them away as assets then yes, the rebuild will take 10+ years. The first year could be painfull as we have to deal with a whinny biatch all year and heck even if we resign him, I don't think it is going to be all roses, he'll keep complaining, get a coach fired, probably get Morey fired and try to run the franchise himself.

That is an exaggeration. Howard isn't a bad guy at heart. I think a new start will do wonders for him if he is healthy.

...but we're already at that point .. hate to see it thrown away...we are loaded with more high upside talent and great draft positions than we have been in 42 years .. the powerhouse teams in the west are all aging and on the decline ..Now is the perfect time to rebuild.

I agree with some of the posters here, any post with smh is not worth considering. Props though for referencing the worst SF movie of all time.

If trading for Howard was such a great idea there would be a real bidding war out there. Other teams with young talented players would be trying to put together offers to get him. The truth is that trading for him is a huge risk and people thinking he will for sure stay are kidding themselves. If NBA GMs honestly thought that Howard wouldn't walk there would be plenty of offers out there that are much better than ours. You have to ask yourselves why so many teams aren't willing to take the same risk that we are.

But he already got a coach and GM fired and then gave Orlando a big f u! Sounds like a good guy to me.
