this messed with me, i thought i was in the twilight zone, as soon as it ended i called my friend who i knew had seen it already and asked him about it, but he couldnt confirm what i saw, thanks for confirming it for me
It was okay. 1) The Dark Knight 2) Batman 3) Batman Begins 4) Batman Returns 5) Batman (Adam West) 6) The Dark Knight Rises 7) Batman Forever 8) Batman & Robin Not movie theater worthy. 6/10.
What goof was it? I remember both instances when Wayne got to the court and Bane requested for Miranda but what was the editing goof?
I think Nero is spot on. It's highly flawed but so entertaining that it doesn't really hurt the experience.
Spoiler talia and gordon track down the truck with the bomb and get caught, next thing you know bruce is getting fox and tells talia i'll be back for you, and then you see gordon and talia at court
I didn't feel that way coming out of TDK. Maybe I've matured beyond my years in the time between movies. If Nolan is fully capable -- and I think he is -- I have to conclude he just didn't try very hard. Maybe he pulled a Kelvin Cato once he got rich and famous.
Spoiler 1) Gordon and Tate are summoned to go before Crane, Bane pulls out Tate 2) Fox and Tate are then both around for Wayne to break out Fox 3) Batman asks Gordon what happened to Tate when they're on the ice 1) and 2) were out of order and needed to be switched. The list goes on and on. Still a top tier film. I hardly want my money back. But this isn't just one or two cranky unpleasable nitpicks - a large number of folks are confused by the sheer amount of holes/errors. With Dark Knight, all you had was Cowboy Beebop having a fit over Nolan action scenes. http://movieline.com/2012/07/23/dark-knight-rises-plot-holes-9-logical-problems/ http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Dark...ed-Unraveling-Unanswered-Questions-32070.html http://www.thehollywoodnews.com/201...tm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=zergnet_27019 http://www.ign.com/blogs/dr.rieux/2...-plot-holes-of-the-dark-knight-rises-spoilers http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20612763,00.html
Did you like Avengers, because there are several silly things and plot holes in that movie, but it was still awesome. --- I think what made Dark Knight so perfect, is that it was a simple film at it's core. It was a cat and mouse game between Batman and Joker. It was a tightly wound crime thriller, small in scope but very grand in design. For Nolan to do the same thing again in DKR, I think it would have been seen by many as repetitive. He had to go big, he had to take risks without it turning into a huge pile of trash like Spiderman 3. The story he told could easily have been expanded into a whole trilogy in itself. But he had to somehow condense it into one film. So yeah, much like Prometheus, there were some plot holes and silly things here and there. But sometimes you just got to look past that and look at the bigger picture, look at the trilogy as a whole and the entire arc of Nolan's Bruce Wayne/Batman. It really is a thing of beauty to behold, especially going back and watching the previous films. Are some things silly, sure, but it's still total badass. For example... Spoiler When the cops came out of the tunnels and were marching down the street, I just saw them as a ticking time bomb of anger running on adrenaline, and was thinking, HELL YEAH kick some ass!
I think what's said above is correct; it's flawed but enjoyable enough (with great moments) to overcome it. However, That first article is rather poor, and more about an unwillingness to go along with the same suspension of belief required in the previous movies, for whatever reason. If the other articles are that way, there doesn't seem to be much point.
Understood, and I admittedly don't belong in this thread. I am about as easy to please as it comes with movies. I go to a movie to be entertained, try to temper any expectations and don't think too much about it after i leave, because after all a movie is a way to escape reality and have a good time. I don't spend a lot of time critiquing movies like a lot of others do, and often I can't even remember I've seen a movie if I haven't seen it twice (unless it was really good). TDK Rises was more entertaining than about 90% of films I've seen lately, so I was happy walking out. Obviously there were massive expectations on this film so the criticism is probably fair.
I enjoyed Avengers alright while I was watching it though I was annoyed by some of the silliness, the crappy Captain America character, and the overly-long and generic fight-scene at the end. But, after the movie, what enjoyment I had faded, and my annoyance persisted. It may be the same with Batman in the future.
Because one of the central themes of the movie is that there is no true despair without hope. Spoiler And also the same reason why they don't just shoot Bruce Wayne in the head as soon as they caught him, like Dr. Evil's son would have done. Also a couple other points that will enhance one's enjoyment of the film (not in response to emjohn): - Before you ask why or how, remember that Batman is a ninja. Space/time doesn't apply to ninjas. - They never showed Gandalf taking a dump. True story. How unrealistic is that? But I for one don't want to know and don't care. I wish I had more hands so I can give this movie 4 thumbs up.
I think the criticisms of this movie are ridiculous. I'm really struggling with how someone could sit in the theater and focus on slight plot holes rather than these huge, overarching themes of sacrifice, retribution, building yourself back from nothing, fear as inspiration, etc... How could you not be moved by Bruce's rise from the ashes? Sounds like some of you guys go to the movies for completely different reasons than I do.
OK, here are my nitpicks. Spoiler The cops have been trapped in the tunnels for 5 months, but they're all clean shaven, have neat hair, and their uniforms look like they've just been dry cleaned. WTF? Did they all decide to go home for a shower and a shave before taking on Bane's men? Bruce also had the time to tidy up before returning to Gotham. Also, the police uniforms say GCPD but the cars are painted GPD. Totally took me out of the movie right there. Anyway, I'd rank them TDK, TDKR, BB
My issue with this movie is this: it tried to be epic for the sake of being epic. I think Nolan went Michael Bay on us with this movie. Spoiler "How can we make this movie more epic than DK? Oh yeah let's blow up a football field!" "Let's give Batman a flying vehicle that would be awesome!" "Let's make all cops get stuck underground wouldn't that be epic!"
