Ebanks was told he could be part of Dwight deal. He was also supposed to play for the Lakers summer league team BUT was ruled out last minute for a "sore knee". Which is bogus.
nice, thanks! can someone rep this man for me? I have been misbehaving lately and had my rep abilities...stached...
X on the Laker's board: About 10 minutes ago I got this...and trust me, its 100% true. No grain of salt here. That "vacation" that Orlando is currently in the middle of? It was the brainchild of both Dan Devos & Alex Martins. Why you ask? In their words, "To give Hennigan a breather and let him get his head on straight".. Heard that he's taking the trade back & forth very personally, is beginning to hold grudges. Martins noticed this, and pitched the idea, to let tensions cool. He doesn't want his GM negotiating in "a cloud of anger"... Wow. After hearing that, I got off the phone and could not stop laughing. Why oh why couldn't Otis Smith have stuck around until after this trade was completed.
In a way yes. Compared to a young Ariza! ha... Guy is a slasher and can play, just needs to work on that shot! He is young and getting paid peanuts.
Not saying he is in superstar convo by any means... But if you think about it.. He is one of the younger "studs" on the Lakers (they don't have many).
Sooo Bynum to houston still the most probable? I am not sure what i want to give up in that case...any idea on what we would send if we were the 3rd wheel here? If we could go into next season with Lin/Douglas Lamb/??? (richardson?) Parsons / Forbes MotiJunas/ White Bynum/ Asik I would be content that we vastly improved our team... I just dont think we can flip motie or lamb in this deal in clear conscious with bynum being a free agent and us not getting the best player...def give every draft pick it would take.
Sounds fake to me. Seems to reference practically every tweet on the Dwight situation from the past few weeks, some of which are likely not true.
Cyber - without divulging too much information, can you fill us in on the negotiation process involved in these kinds of deals? (i.e., how does the back and forth work?) is this mostly telecom conversations between front offices? how big of an influence do player agents have in the actual process (outside of floating info to the media)?
Agents have an agenda and push things to the media a lot. My favorite is when there is a free agent and they throw the "Lakers" into it to get publicity etc. Sources say so-so is getting interest from the Lakers. (oldest trick in the books) Teams talk a lot. Managers are always following up with managers all the time, its their job knowing who is available etc. There is lots that is involved and it takes a long time. Last year for example at the trade deadline, Lakers were about to have Beasley for Fisher and I believe some other things. Looked done. Lakers had on the back burner the Fisher for Hill deal just incase. Minny was set on trading Beasley to LAL, then last minute the owner didn't feel comfortable and cancelled. Literally a few mins before the trade deadline Mitch went back and got Jordan Hill from Houston.
...so what's the deal with Hennigan? He has some inside connections, right? I would assume the only way someone would be a NBA GM at 30 years old is because of some sort of family connection. That or Orlando is just picking someone completely at random to be a fall guy for the inevitable, "we got fleeced in that trade" backlash. Back to topic though, so if the vacation story about Hennigan taking things personal is correct, I would only assume that means Hennigan is frustrated working with Morey - otherwise a deal would have already went down. Seems Houston has the most to offer but I imagine they are playing hard ball giving lesser offers to try to just barely top what could be gained from a LA/Cle/ORL swap. Finally - you got any window into the chances Dwight would actually walk if traded to Houston? Thanks again for all the info cyberx!
He would walk at the end of the year for sure. Teams would go crazy trading players pulling off Amnesty deals to get the most cap room to get him. (see Shaq to LA 96)
