I can apprceiate what you say, but as mentioned before, no one is untouchable. Making definitive statements that end up not coming true is how people's quotations becomes part of other's clutchfans signatures. ;)

The purity of the argument is only matched by its simplicity, which is only matched by its rigidity, which gives it a twinge of Germam-style absolutism.

I don't believe our players are untouchable, but considering this would be a rental, because Dwight Howard is clearly going into free agency. It's not in good business to trade away valuable players. What scares me about all this Dwight garbage...Houston is the only team that is really serious about it, as the Howard has never given any indications of wanting to join the Rockets. LA could take him or leave him and its not the end of the world. Lakers management will be remain status quo, as the Lakers players would probably not care. While, the fan base will be slightly split, the pro-Dwight crowd will get over once the Lakers start winning a bunch of games.

New Jersey was like "We like you, but you ain't worth that kind of trouble."

If he comes to Houston, he probably will play like 50 games and uninspired no less ... I don't know because he DOESN"T WANT TO BE HERE and IS AN UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENT. Why is that so hard to get across to people.

I really hope he ends up in LA, Dallas, New Jersey, or Antarctic, not Houston.

I think we can all use deductive reasoning here.

THe trade hasn't happened and ORL hasn't been compelled by just getting draft picks. They shot down the Cleveland, LA three way and we've been busy dealing with RFA.

Absorbing cap space will be the linch pin of this Howard deal. The team that can effective wipe away most of Orlando's bad contracts will end up with Howard. Not Bynum, not Gasol not anyone else but Howard.

Our cap situation is in flux until Tuesday at 11pm. so the speculation on players we send is meaningless if we don't take back the contracts ORL wants to send. THe trade would have been done by now if it hinged on players and picks.

Hmm I understand. Most SFs at his level get paid at least 5m+.

I feel you and it makes sense. Because Rockets have been making trades taking back so many unguaranteed contracts to shed to make the possibility of adding on to the cap space they already have with plans to have more room to take on the contracts the magic want to move in the Dwight trade.

Funny how i thought the rockets offer sheet got to the Bulls on Friday...only to be told today that Tuesday at 11:59, Asik can officially be a Rocket...

And yes...agree...Once the Rockets have set Roster...is only when we can reasses the cap space...and look at the ORL Magic...my guess is that the Rockets have already made an offer...and if ORL is still not interested...will try one last time Wednesday, to close a deal that would land Howard here...For the Magic, the Trade will net the magic either cap space...or picks/players...but I doubt both will be handed to Hennigan...Morey is always looking to one up on any deal...

I don't think we can deduce much of anything. The Cleavland involvement in any trade rumors have basically been shot down.

There could already be the grounds for a trade in place that could be pending waiting for the signing of Asik to be complete or possibly for DMo to have been in the league long enough to be traded. There may be nothing imminent at all.

First off, the top center in the league is worth all the trouble in the world, especially when he's ready to re-up.

Second he's not going to play "uninspired" anywhere in a contract year. Or then someone might actually think he wasn't worth the trouble.

I was trying to wrap my mind around Orlando's need to dump contracts and realized that they will be in line to get some major goodies from either cash-strapped teams and/or cap-strapped teams looking to sign a big free agent (get where I'm going with this?)

Big market teams looking for DH, CP3, Bynum, and others next July (or any other year) who don't have that projected space now could create it through teams like this with a bunch of cap space.

I was assuming that it would require them to have some sweet picks to pull it off, but I'm having second thoughts if there are multiple cap-ready teams available to deal with.

TL;DR - If we take most of ORL bad contracts, it may actually help DH to sign elsewhere.

(So if we want DH to stay, we probably should give up more youngin's and take back less contracts. If we want to flip DH for something else, then it doesn't matter.)

I don't think that Orlando is really trying to free up cap space to acquire overpriced veterans. Not exactly in their rebuilding mindset. Sorry.

Oh, I think they are interested, they have to move him and if anyone had better offers this would be done by now.

One of the things that we *do* know is that the relationship between ORL management and Howard is in the toilet, he just doesn't trust them to make any moves that will help them win.

The most likely and logical deduction is that the Magic have been presented multiple scenarios depending on how the offer sheets turn out, so the Magic are still soliciting any other offers while they wait for the results of the Rockets FA deals.

When Wed rolls around, that's when things will really start getting serious.

Ah, well said. Focusing on what we DO know is always better than making sh#t up, and then repeating it over and over again in the hope that it magically becomes true.

Orlando is the team with the gun to it's head (so-to-speak). I don't think they want the Dwightmare to continue into camp. The clock has to be ticking.

With all the talk about what Orlando wants the one thing we tend to forget is what is being offered by other teams. I don't think that Daryl Morey has to give away the whole farm in order to offer Orlando the best deal.

No other team can offer a garunteed lottery pick plus cap relief. If the Rockets only offer KMart, TJones, PPat, Morris, expiring contracts, Lottert pick, Dallas pick (unprotected in a couple of years) and a couple of 2nd round picks, who can offer more than that?

Didn't the Cavs get an uprotected 1st for taking on a bad contract? Did it turn out to be the #1 or 4 pick last year? Either way that is a great building piece for the future. I'm hoping the rockets can trade Martin for future picks and absorb a bad contract for future picks, hopefully uprotected in two years...a guy can dream of landing Wiggins, can't he.

We are getting way too carried away here. What we know is that Morey has not offered all three first round picks from this year and will not take back 3 bad contracts. That's it! We don't know what's being offered and what the Magic wants. What we know from the Magic side is that with Lamb doing well, they will most likely want him. Morey is too smart to just involve him no matter what since his trade value has increased now. We can guess which picks are involved but nobody knows for certain how much Morey is willing to give. Martin is the only big contract so he's surely involved as well.

Bill Ingram from Poopsworld said that Morey would not be finished after getting Dwight/Bynum he said they still want a star swingman and said they could use the rest of the rookies as trade bait to get Iggy/Gay.
