I have been completely on board with your Howard position. I say get him and don't let him go to LA where you would create a superpower for the next 5 years. I don't think Howard will walk, and if he really will we can hit the bynum eject button at the deadline.

However, why are you so certain Parsons is not included? Have you heard some inside info (you don't have to be specific if it gets you in trouble). And what is the reasoning? For example if I could keep lamb over parsons I probably would. Given this is a rental, I would think that donuts and Lin are the only untouchables.

Parsons can be found again. If it means keeping lamb and dmo while getting Howard, do it.

D-Mo is definitely the most untouchable out of those guys.

    I'm 75% convinced we are.

Morey will not let Chandler Parsons be the tipping point of a deal for Dwight ****ing Howard. Morey traded Dragic, Martina and Scola for Gasol who isn't even as good as Howard.

Considering one of the guys we're going to get back in this trade is almost certainly going to be a SF, I wouldn't count Parsons out at all.

At his salary Parsons is one of the best bargains in the entire league. He's signed on the cheap for 2 more seasons. He also plays a premium position where there isn't alot of depth. Outside of LeBron, Melo, Iggy, Gay, Granger, Durant who are stars on max type deals I don't see alot of talent at SF around the league.

Clutch has hinted that the Rockets brass feels he'll be more a great role player than a guy with star potential.

I sure hope we are not trading Parsons, We have to retain someone from last year, how could fans not expect a favorite to return. Have not had time to get attached to the rookies yet, I would rather keep Chandler and let them all go...I would hate it, but a team has to have a familiar face from one year to next. I am excited to see Parsons improvement in his second season, not interested at all how the bad contracts of the magic mesh with all the castoffs from other teams we are collecting.

I really like Parsons. But if it meant getting Howard back and keeping DMo and Lamb? I'd help Parsons pack and drive him to the airport.

THat has to do with fueling D-Mo's ego. In the SL report Clutch wrote he said Rockets didn't want the fans to put that kind of pressure on him.

Not saying Parsons won't be traded.

Just stating why he has so much value.

That probably doesn't get it done and I promise you Morey is willing to offer more if necessary.

    Here's how I see it:

    Necessary for salary purposes:
    Martin

    Blue chip:
    Parsons, Lamb, Motiejunas, Toronto pick

    Solid piece:
Patterson, Jones, White, Dallas pick, future HOU pick (heavily protected)

I think we wind up sending Martin, two blue chips, and two solid pieces, while taking back 1-2 bad contracts.

Now which of the blue chips will we give up?

I think Lamb and the Toronto pick. I think Morey will hold out really hard and try to avoid giving up Motiejunas. (If absolutely necessary Moti will be traded, but I don't think it will be.) Morey will suggest that they take the Toronto pick, and their choice out of Parsons and Lamb. They'll pick Lamb because Lamb offers more to dream on. They'll be happy to take the Toronto pick instead of Parsons as well, for the same reasons... hope of finding a star in the draft.

Which solid pieces will we give up? I definitely think Orlando will want the DAL pick. It's kind of meh in the immediate future, but that's why it is only the caliber of a Patterson type player. The thing which will sell Orlando on it is that sure, maybe they get another mediocre draft pick soon... but they can dream on it becoming fully unprotected in the future and being a high lottery pick. Always great to add that kind of asset.

So that leaves one more solid piece. I don't think Orlando will want Patterson, he's already too far into his rookie contract and his potential is kind of meh. I think it'll be down between White and Jones which one they take. I think it's very close but in the end, I feel they will go with Jones because he seems more capable of defending both forward positions and showed more in summer league. They could easily go for White instead though.

So following that reasoning, it would be:

    Martin
    Lamb
    Jones
    TOR pick
    DAL pick

for Howard and 1-2 bad contracts (probably including Jason Richardson, maybe Duhon or Quentin as well).

I'd just hate to see Parsons go. The guy has such great defensive ability; even Kobe was impressed, and he certainly held his own against Durant.

That's a really tough question because I think White has so much upside. However, Chandler is an elite level defender right now and having both he and Dwight in the same front court makes the Rocketsa force on defense. I think I would keep Parsons.

Don't consider myself an insider. I just know some things.

After the Dwight trade, we will only have a couple players left from last year's team. While there are no untouchables, Chandler is close to untouchable. We are going to acquire Dwight without including him. He plays a key role for this team going forward in that he gives every premier perimeter player in this league fits defensively. And we control him on a rookie minimum scale contract. And his value is not maxed out at this point. The team has been using him as the one guy that newbies like Lin and the rookies run with to get an understanding of the Rox organization. It is obvious they aren't trading him.

Yeah, plus bringing in Dwight means we're competing, not rebuilding. So parsons would make more sense.

Morey did acquire that early second round pick in the Lee S&T which leads me to speculate that it was possibly acquired to send to Orlando in a deal hopefully to give us a bit more leverage as to what rookies we send them.

At this point hearing next years draft is supposedly weak I would rather send picks then our rookie talent.

I also would like to hang onto Lamb, Parsons, and D-Mo but if we have to send one of those to Orlando to get Dwight Freakin' Howard, The BEST center in the league you have to do that.

It truly is tough. I think i might have to go the other way. I think both White and Jones have more talent than Parsons. They're also both over 2 years younger than Parsons. I just can't see giving up on all that potential for a guy who's best case senario is Shane Battier (IMHO).

If we were closer to contention, I'd say keep Parsons, but i think we are in full rebuild mode now. I also don't see Dwight being a Rocket past next year, if we get him.

    Like i said, tough call.
