Yep. It's depressing. Night in and night out it seems to be a score like that. They were so much fun to watch not too long ago. Although, I'm just happy they are rebuilding and going young.
Losing with prospects (Altuve, Kuechel, Lyles, J.D. MarGo) is one thing. Losing with guys(Bixler, Moore, Downs, Schafer, Bogey, Del Rosario, F-Rod, CJ) is another thing. Losing always sucks but I'd have more patience with it if I could watch guys like(Paredes, Wallace, Barnes, Storey, Cedeno & even Stoffel) go through those growing pains. Of course I think FO is aware and I think a lot of this is addressed with the beginning of August.
I'm tired of watching Jordan Lyles. I have an easier time watching terrible hitting than terrible pitching.
Jordan Lyles needs to grow up fast. He can't get flustered anymore in tough situations, otherwise it'll just snowball on him. And it's happened far too often this season. The potential is there, but is he tough enough? There's a very legitimate question: Is Jordan Lyles tough enough to be a major league starting pitcher?
I'm hoping Lyles is going through what Wandy went through in his first couple of seasons. In '05 & '06, Wandy was very hittable, struggled with command, EXTREMELY shaky & weak minded when things got tough, walked too much and really didn't 'K very many batters. I remember vividly watching games when Brownie and J.D. would make mention to Wandy's focus being shaken which would be followed by a big inning knocking him out of the game. I think Jordan will be ok because he's still so young but the biggest difference between him and Wandy is his lack of a great K pitch, i.e. Wandy's curve.
