Please try to keep up. That's exactly my point. There is a direct quote from Dwight that he'll only re-sign with one team. Hennigan the next day said it was Brooklyn. That's why we should believe it.

Im tired of all this Brooklyn non sense.... what is the big deal with that team.... just fed up with all the Brooklyn jocking..... Big freaking deal Brooklyn you SUCK!!!! I hope they lose in the 1st round every year to the Miami Heat.... I rather have Miami win the championship every year rather than Brooklyn ever does.... But I would rather have Houston win them every year.....

Like you can re-sign with more than one?

If Dwight doesn't see the advantages of playing in Houston, he's an idiot. Unless, of course, he doesn't mind carry Kobe's jock.

Chances are the guy that wrote this doesn't actually follow the Rockets. That's how BR operates. They hand out these assignments like candy and expect you put out "quality."

    Usually it's just uninformed drivel.

I'm sure he can see the advantages, but you can't tell me that he should prefer Houston over Brooklyn or LA. No one would blame him for preferring the Lakers right now, it's just the whole "no chance he stays" business we take issue with.

A couple of big differences are at play here.

The new CBA makes it much, much tougher for a max player to actually walk away from the team that owns his rights.

The Knicks had what was widely considered the best package available for Denver at the time Carmelo was traded. (and again, by "forcing" - somethning way too many people think can "just be done" - a sign and trade, Carmelo lost nothing, which isn't the case any longer).

LeBron was a free agent. While Cleveland did end up doing the S&T with him, so they could get something in return while giving LeBron the max, that can't be done any longer. (at least not for the same amount of years or money)

Nash at this point of his career is not considered a max player. There were several teams that were willing to pay him MORE than the Suns were.

    Completely different scenarios.

We all buy into the talk of someone "forcing" a sign and trade and the media's "reports" that someone will "definitely walk away and not re-sign". It's taken a LONG, LONG time for Howard's relationship with the Magic to get to the non-repairable stage. For someone who is, by all accounts, a truly good/nice guy who cares about his fans, it's unlikely Dwight would choose to be a cancer or distruptive in the locker room.

While I'm on record as saying that the odds would be in our favor to re-sign him, that doesn't mean that he couldn't leave. I'm definitely not saying he will re-sign beyond the shadow of a doubt. Of course he could sign for a year and about $30 million less in Dallas or Atlanta.

However, regardless of how much someone feels a shoe contract will play into the decision, the odds are still in the team that holds the player's rights favor. None of us know for sure how much MORE a shoe contract will be worth in LA as compared to Houston.

None of us know exactly how much more Adidas would be paying Dwight NOW if he was in Brooklyn as opposed to Orlando.

I'm sure it IS or would be MORE... but, $30M more? For those that want to use that as some huge factor in his decision - obviously due strictly to money - then you must factor in what Dwight may be able to make in endorsements in China as well.

I'm sure all of that will come into play to a certain degree, but like J.R. said, NONE of us know anything. We are all speculating.

The way some of you guys speak - the certainty of a one year rental - really shows just how much you are influenced by the media and the ESPN juggernaut.

There's a large part of me that wants no part of taking the chance that he's a disruption and wants no part of having to watch and read ridiculous segments and articles all year regarding where Dwight's going to play.

However, there's also a large part of me that understands if you have the chance to grab a guy of this caliber, you must take it.

Just a few weeks ago, many of us were in a bad place emotionally, watching Morey trade away what seemed like everyone. Even though we knew we needed to do something, tear it down or re-build, it seemed like he had no plan.

While I'll be the first to say there was likely a lot of luck involved in getting Lin and Asik, we've quickly went from "what the hell is going on?" to "oh, ok... this may turn out pretty well". (either get Dwight while not giving up the farm or play the youngsters only with Lin and Asik and let's see what they can do).

From where I was a couple of weeks ago, I am HAPPY to be in the position of looking forward to the season and future no matter which way this thing breaks.

I still think Howard walks to Dallas if traded, he'll convince himself its not total money but salary and he can recuperate that. And Dallas should have a lot of their guys on bird rights so they can resign even though above cap. Its not the size of the market for Howard but its sexiness.
Houston is like Katie Holmes and Dallas, la, and Brooklyn are Kate Upton.

Who will they have bird rights for? Could you please try to paint a picture of why Dallas is so enticing? I think Atlanta is a more attractive spot.

How does anyone know what the Orlando GM is thinking?

It's just as possible that he makes this easy and exchanges centers with the Lakers.

Or he can decide to trade his superstar making max salary for anybody else's superstar making max salary. That's always been in play. There's no restriction to that.

Why is that anymore unlikely to happen than trading for a dog's breakfast with Houston or Cleveland?

He could trade Dwight to New Orleans for Eric Gordon and Anthony Davis. It could happen. To the Kings for a Demarcus Cousins package or to Portland for LaMarcus Aldridge and pieces.

There are plenty of theoretical destinations for Dwight that could involve star power talent in return that the Rocks can't come close to providing.

It was the same hysteria last year over Gasol.

"Oh the Lakers are desperate to move him. They can't afford all these expensive contracts, time is on Morey's side. The Rocks can wait them out and get Gasol for a bargain price."

No! There are plenty of options out there to be explored when you're shopping star power players and the options constantly change.

IMO this is still a long way from being over. The Orlando GM has no reason to feel desperate to make a move.
