Not totally a Dwight thread but an evaluation of our prospects and their worth. Thoughts?

None of our players should be untouchable. None of them deserve that label. In fact, very few in the NBA do.

I'd prefer option 1 out of those 4.

I'd try to keep Motiejunas, Lamb and Parsons. Pretty much everything else is fair game as far as I'm concerned.

Seem to be 3 thoughts on thinking:

1/3 BBS: Don't give up anything. He don't want to be here, I don't want him. Let's just go with what we got.
1/3 BBS: At the 'right price' will I trade for Dwight.
1/3 BBS: I'm all in! Let's get this deal done!

None of the players are untouchable but that doesn't mean you should go out and give the farm for a possible rental ( Not saying he will leave but its a chance)

    Orl gets:
    Martin
    Morris
    Jones or Patterson
    Craptor Pick
    Dallas Pick

    Rockets get:
    Howard
    Jrich
and maybe Duhon or something to make salaries match

That trade leaves us in a great position with several talent and gets rid of a couple or forwards. I highly doubt anyone else would be willing to beat that to risk a Howard rental, if they do add in another player.

I'd give up Lamb if it meant keeping Jones and Motiejunas.

We'd be taking back Jason Richardson so he'd automatically be the SG. He's not a bad player.

Giving up DMo or our 2 PF would leave us weak in PF talent believe it or not. I think Patterson is not that good and Morris? We'll we know.

More than any of these if we are only taking back one bad contract (which isn't even bad, Richardson is a decent guard).

Martin, Lamb, Jones OR White, TOR pick, DAL pick

That should be Morey's absolute max offer, and no higher.

It's not the fact that our players should be untouchable. You're right. There isn't anyone on this roster that is. However, there's just too many unknowns.

Will Howard sign an extension? Will Howard's back hold up? Will one of our traded rookies turn out to be a very, VERY good player? Will the TOR pick turn out to be a #1 pick that, when used, gets a franchise center?

Can't be a #1 pick for years though. Very unlikely to ever happen.

I doubt Morey would do that, he is playing hardball and knows that he has best offer with any of the 4 options. Now its just about waiting.

And I highly doubt Orlando does that. I just can't see us getting Dwight without Lamb.

Ideally, I'd love to keep Donatas and Lamb, but I just don't think it happens if we were to trade for Dwight.

I don't think Motiejunas is going anywhere.

We'll see. I hope to get Dwight for less, but what I listed looks fairly realistic.

I agree. He just fits so well Howard. Morey will deep ineptly take back J Rich since like we agree is a good SG.

True Lamb would probably have to be in it

Look at what Hornets got for CP3

    -Eric Gordon
    -Aminu
    -Minnesota Draft pick (10th pick)
    -Kaman

If you consider something like "Will the TOR pick turn out to be a #1 pick that, when used, gets a franchise center" then I honestly don't know what to say. That arguably has more unknowns than Howard signing an extension.

Of course you don't trade all your young pieces for Howard, I'm not advocating that. But if you can get Howard for 2 to 4 of the many we have, you absolutely do it.
