I think we're the frontrunners for Dwight for sure, but let's not ASSUME we're getting him... don't want to jinx it.

Anyway, sounds to me like you're describing Nicolas Batum. If Portland is bad enough maybe he becomes available at the deadline, but I don't think they're necessarily going to be sellers.

Another possibility could be Luol Deng. Do we have anything the Bulls want enough to give him up?

    Not only that..

As it stands now, who is our backup 3? Morris can't play the 3. So who is our depth there? Who is behind Parsons?

That's scary. And if we give up Martin in the big deal (which pretty much should be a given) then we don't even HAVE a 2 other than Lamb.

I just cannot see Morey coming all this way, everything according to a grand design, only to snag the big prize and THEN realize we don't have anyone playing the 2 OR the 3 (assuming as many people claim that both Lamb and Parsons would probably be gone in the deal).

I just can't buy that as a possibility, ESPECIALLY since we are going to be the only real value bidder, even if Morey plays hardball.

If we have Asik & Dwight, as well as either one of White or Jones, then as much as it pains me to say it, that puts Motiejunas on the table.

It really seems to me like Morey needs to set an absolute best-deal possible and not deviate from it, no matter what. The screws are to Orlando here, not us. I would say, Raps pick, Mavs pick, one or two from among White, Jones & Motiejunas (even more to the point, I would say either White and Jones, OR only Motiejunas, ideally only even giving up one of White or Jones - even better to insist on it being Morris and PPat), throw in maybe a couple of 2nd round picks, and we take back at most two contracts along with Dwight.

That is MORE than generous and fair, especially considering Dwight's threat not to re-up.

It just seems like a tread-water move if we put Lamb or Parsons on the table.

Keep in mind Richardson is probably coming back and can play the 2. Turkoglu can play the 3 but I'd rather not take his contract and I'm not sure even quite have the space to take Turk & Richardson both.

That said I very much doubt we send out both Lamb and Parsons. I think it would be more like Lamb and White, or Parsons and White... or sub Jones in there... you get the idea.

We should assume we're getting Dwight and start discussing how Morey is going to build out around him.

You know, I really hadn't considered the Batum idea but that's a great idea. Both Asik and Batum will be BYC so a couple other players would have to be included. But Asik would be a good fit in Portland. They need a C.

My first thought was Monta Ellis. Milwaukee needs a 5. And Monta is not likely to stay there.

Damn man thanks for that... now we're not getting Dwight ;)

Hmm, Asik + prospects for Batum? (If we still have enough prospects left...) Interesting thought.

Morey needs to find a way to keep Lin, Lamb and Parsons to play alongside Dwight. Orlando could have the choice of everyone else though.

There's nothing to jinx at this point. Nothing. The only way we don't get Dwight is if Morey decides he likes Bynum better. Not likely.

We gave them an expiring contract. We both know Dally is not the answer for them.

Batum is overpaid! I'm an Oregonian, trust me!

I think we should hold onto Asik even if we have Dwight! The twin towers playing defense down low will really shut things down for other teams! If the opportunity presents itself later after we know that Dwight is staying and depending on Asik is doing, maybe then we can think about trading him...

I think we should try to sign Josh Smith here next summer! He has already said that he would like to play with his friend Dwight Howard!

Speaking of Batum, I think that's Parsons' best case outcome if we somehow manage to hang onto him, and his shooting improves as I expect.

You guys just throw out big names randomly without considering whether it fits or not. We don't need to become the next NYK aka random stars put together but cannot co-exist.

At this point I just don't want Morey to be the facilitator that sends Dwight to LA...that is just playing with fire. I can live with any other scenario. Last thing I want to see is Dwight and Kobe hoisting the next 2 championship trophies. Next LeBron opts out of Miami in 2014 to sign in LA. Lakers go on to win 5 more rings with Dwight.

If at all possible keep all superstars out of LA and let them rebuild with Bynum and his gimpy knees after Kobe retires.

La,b will end up a ball stopper with a PG like Lin,
he might grow up n learn, but I see him in the
Monte Ellis groom high shot selection, but able to leap and decent wingspan,
But still too short to be a "morey" combo guy-which white and jones are,
and I see them as available ....but it's going to be lamb Martin parsons/or White
for a cheap Ryan Anderson replacement. They also will not be sending us Turk
DMorey won't be taking that on unless he gets to keep his one out of two first rounders. I like Richardson in a new city should help, and he works hard usually his first year with a team, he may have lost a lil step though.

Dwight then if problems arise we send him to LA for picks and Bynum
Re-upped unless he wants to wait till end of yr. all else assuming we get Dwight by October

Rockets simply don't have a shot for the ring in the next 4 years, and Morey is not willing to give up both any rookies + cap space for Bynum.
