Time to hang the NRA and hold them full responsible. Can't believe this guy was able to stockpile a load of ammo.
So, this person called the cops and demanded they release him? Wow, they must really think this is a movie..... As for the money...if he didn't care about killing people, he definitely doesn't care about his credit. He could have been planning this for months and just signed up for CCs and nowadays they'll lease cars to anyone, so it's really not that hard to get all this stuff together.
Uhhh...you're getting way mixed up. Clearly confused. First off, its not hard to get a gun. Westside middle school shootings, Columbine kids, etc... What this has to do with anything is beyond me because its irrelevant to what happened with this case. In this case, we're not talking about a gun. We are talking about 20k worth of weapons. How many people have 20k credit card limits? How many people have 10k credit card limits? Very, very few. It doesnt take riches to buy 20k in purchases??? Please. The only reason Ive been able to get a 20k limit on my cards is because I spend 5-10k a month consistently through my business. You dont fluke your way to that kind of credit limit...it takes money and time. This has nothing to do with the fact that his parents bought him a $15,000 car...parents buy their children cars all the time. My parents bought be a nice car when I graduated college...and even though I had their credit cards growing up, I can assure you the credit limits were nowhere near 20k. Maybe 7k. And if this was taking place over months...you think this guy is maxing out his dad's card every month, having the dad pay it off, then maxing it out again, having dad pay it off, maxing it out again...unlikely. And just as I assumed, there was more than one person involved...that's not the kind of operation that takes place with just one person...sitting there with daddy's credit card in hand.
Where did you get the quote that his arsenal was worth $20k? I'm pretty sure you could buy those weapons with a budget of $3k.
It was speculation on the radio 15-20k...based on all weapons, tactical gear, armor, explosives in his car, explosives and booby traps in his apartment, etc... I have no clue how much any of that stuff costs as Im the furthest removed from that kind of thing. If you think its 3k, then I'd have to take your word for it since I have no concept of the costs. Also, this guy was recently a research assistant getting paid...but was now collecting unemployment...kind of weird if his family is rich and he has access to all sorts of money. I guess it can happen though.
Probably around 3k for the weapons. The glocks are around 600 each, the rifle is probably anywhere from 800-1200,not sure what kind of shotgun he had but probably another 300-500. Don't really know what else he had ? Were these gas canisters home made ? I didn't know that was something you could legally purchase ?
Not that I own guns or am actively searching for one in the market, but I've played plenty of Counter-Strike. Just kidding. I have a general idea of how much firearms cost based on the deals on SlickDeals. Handguns are generally $300-$500, and I've seen AR-15s sell for below $1,000. Depending on the shotgun, I'd say it's between $300-$600. As for the other gear, I wouldn't know personally but I can't imagine it'd be as much as the guns. I think it's entirely plausible that this guy funded things on his own bill, whether through cash, loans, or credit.
Seriously. Don't they have records or tracking records or buyers that are or should be sent to the police department. Don't they have software applications that track these kind of stuff and put a red alert when someone stockpile a load of firearms?
I dont think they were home made...and since Im Persian, I dont really want to google to see how one can obtain the gas canisters legally. The last thing I need is Big Brother knocking on my door.
Apparently he was receiving a large mount of deliveries from online purchases, so most of this stuff was bought online. He also worked as a camp counselor at some point. And y'all have probably heard about the neighbor who almost opened and set off the explosives in his apartment... Close call...Surely would have caused another death or two, at least.
I have a hard time believing this. People get busted all the time for purchasing materials a little at a time to make drugs. And this guy doesn't get noticed? Yeah right. It's just hard for me to believe you can order the stuff he had online without any type of credentials for the class of weapons he had.
I believe the online orders were for the materials he needed to wire his apartment, and possibly the masks and gear...i imagine the weapons were bought in person. I guess if he's that smart..he could have used multiple emails, bank accounts, and various forms of payment, so he wouldn't leave just one big trail of suspicious orders.
For the guns and ammo, it would take only $3-5k to buy. I had $20k limit on on 2 AMEX cards($10k on each) in my 20's, while making less than a high school teacher. It's not unimaginable for him to have a $5k credit card and buy some stuff with their parent's credit card. The other shooters were unemployed with no cash also. The weapons were purchased with their parents or taken from their parents. It's an example of how unemployed people are able to afford a couple grand in guns and ammo.
Thanks for the update, RKREBORN. I googled Yeom Pyo Lee and found his profiles on a couple of sites. Most of his twitter feed is in Korean. My 2 cents which have probably been mentioned: Who the eff takes a 6 year old to midnight screening? 6 year olds should be in bed asleep. Plus it's not a movie for 6 year olds! Too bad a cop didn't take him out.
