Honestly I don't see morey dealing that much for Bynum..he might have to put in one more player to get Dwight and we all know morey loves Dwight over Bynum...bottom line is Bynum doesn't want the cavs and no other team will be willing to facilitate the trade...hennigan is gonna realize there's no other offer better than ours...mark my words were gonna get d12

It's an excellent analysis, perhaps the best I've ever read on an NBA offseason, and it makes clear the strategy of not helping the Lakers establish a dynasty since they're in our conference. Agreed this should be sticky'd and new threads deleted that fail to recognize the salient facts.

the author's specialized knowledge concerns the trade process in general, which in this case explains the bizarre dwight-to-the-lakers scenario that has already been totally debunked on this board.

but the material about the trade specifics is obviously just gleaned from media sources available elsewhere. And notice how the author thinks the cleveland deal isn't serious because no specific package of players has been publicly mentioned. that sort of thinking would imply that he credits the ESPN report (i think it was stein? maybe chad ford?) containing the "specific package" of every single asset we possess.

but that was bull****. it doesn't take insider knowledge to ascertain what we could give away and then speculate that we're having "discussions" with the magic about those pieces. of course we're discussing all the options on the table. we'd be stupid to categorically strike any particular player or piece. The real journalistic leg work (and GM work) comes from deriving the actual package from the total negotiating space.

I got a feeling that Morey will sit back and wait. Orlando lost a lot of leverage and will continue to everyday. I see Morey waiting for a desperate Orlando GM wanting to unload Howard and him promptly screwing him over.

There is no way we can convince Dwight to sign an extension here. Rather have Bynum.

You obviously missed the interview with the doctor talking about Bynums not 1, but 2 surgically replaced knees.

I would rather get Howard here and actually experience what its like to be a Rocket. If its REALLY not going to work out, we trade him at the deadline.

"For whatever reason, Orlando is hesitating accepting two lottery picks, the Rockets draftees from this year, Kevin Martin’s expiring deal, and the possibility of unloading Hedo Turkoglu’s terrible contract."

No way all that is available. The Magic have no leverage. The Rockets are the only team that have what they want (multiple quality picks and cap space) and the only team willing to accept a trade without an extension. That equals Morey trade rape. I don't see why we would have to give more than:

    1. Toronto's pick
    2. Dallas' pick
    3. A future first
    4. New York's Two second
    5. Charlotte's Second
    6. Patterson or Morris

They're making it sound like Bynum is some scrub. What if the Cavaliers value him enough to cough up Tristan Thompson, Waiters and Sacramento's 1st rounder for Bynum? Lakers and Rockets are dead even right now for Dwight

On point article....Rockets should make a low ball offer for DH12 and stick to it until training camp.

lol at thompson and the sacramentos pick is not worth as much as the reversed protected pick of the raptors. Waiters is damn intriguing but so is lamb.

are you really saying Sacrmento gonna have a better year than Toronto? Toronto is adding Lowry & that Valuceinas guy (sp?) to the (L)eastern Conference where sub .500 teams make the playoffs, they'll do just fine. Sacramento has been a mess the last 6 years, nothing has changed
