What's the freaking deal? Morey stated that Asik would sign today. I don't see why we wouldn't do it ASAP. This is pretty annoying. we all thought Lin + Asik would take 3-6 days tops a couple weeks ago.

If Rockets make any potential deal with Orlando, does Rockets have to wait three full days before making the deal with Orlando? Or Rockets can do the deal right now knowing that Asik has officially signed the offer sheet?

Technically, as long as we have his cap hold on the books, we can proceed. BUT, I doubt we do, because we probably will want to do another move if CHI matches Asik. Also, you never know what could happen. Noah could tear his ACL walking down the stairs tomorrow and change Chicago's plans or something.

I think if Orlando calls Morey tomorrow and says, 'We want to trade Dwight today', that the response won't be, 'Thanks, but we aren't ready. Come back when we've resolved the Asik situation.'

When/if it suits Orlando to make the trade, it will be made.

There is an upper limit of 20 guys under contract during the offseason- this is why HOU had to waive Leuer and Jerome Jordan before inking Lin and making the Asik offer. With the Courtney Lee trade, HOU got 3 guys back, 2 of whom non-guaranteed. They need to finalize the Lee deal (physicals and stuff) and waive the non-guaranteed guys before they can make an offer to Asik.

    Update: 02:12 AM ET

After meeting with Rockets officials in Las Vegas, including dinner with coach Kevin McHale, Omer Asik returned to Chicago and signed his three-year, $25.1 million offer sheet Friday. Chicago Tribune

The Bulls will have until 10:59 p.m. on the third day from when they receive the offer sheet to match or decline the terms, which include a $14,898,000 salary in 2014-15. Though attempts to present the offer sheet were made, the Bulls have yet to receive it. Chicago Tribune

As long as it ends like the Lin's situation, no big deal. Nothing's imminent in the Dwight Howard front.

LMAO this is just Chicago stalling, making it as hard as they can just to spite the Rox.

IMHO Morey and his FO has managed to do an excellent job this offseason, certainly one of the best offseasons ever for an org in terms of rep and PR. THe Rox went from yet another flailing about season to total badasses other orgs hate with a passion, I love it lol.

This. If they lose out on a viable backup to Noah, maybe they really will match.

Wow I thought the Bulls were gonna be classier than the Knicks. They are a much better org and Asik is not freaking Jeremy Lin. I mean come on.

The Bulls know that Asik has great trade value. Top 5 defensive centers are hard to come by!!!

Here the Bulls have been sitting on this valuable asset, and now they stand to lose Asik for nothing in Return. I would not doubt that the Bulls are burning up the phones to see if there is a potential deal out there to be made. I'm sure the Bulls still want a 1st round pick for Asik. But there is risk, what if Asik doesn't prove to be more than a 15 minute type guy? As it is he get's a lot of fouls. So if the Bulls match and then can't trade him, the Bulls will be severely BURNED!!!

Poor Chicago Bulls, the Rockets were going to send them Lee when he could have helped them 2 seasons ago for Asik, and the Bulls price was outrageous. Now the Rockets are in a good spot to get their man, and the Bulls will be there having demanded everything and NOW getting nothing....

Oh, and on top of that, the Rockets did not lose Lee for nothing, they got a likely top 2nd round pick in 2013 and JaJ.... Johnson from the Celtics.
