If Martin goes, can Livingston play back-up SG for us?

This is my first thread started, but I thought this might be worth discussing. I've been looking at our roster the past few day trying to figure out what possible moves were going to be made to fill holes in our depth. With too many PF's and questions about if D-Mo will be a PF or grow into a Center with time, I was wondering if that's what we should be looking for instead of guards.

Either Kevin Martin stays and we let him fall off the books after the season, or he gets dealt for either another SG + a pick or a back-up C or just picks. I think Center is what we need to look at and either bring in guards from our sumer league if we can free up space, or have a bench of Livingston @ SG and Douglas @ PG with Fortson @ 3rd string for injury purposes. Livingston is 6'7" and I keep hearing he is a PG, but at that height couldn't he play SG? His shooting percentages weren't too bad and could probably go up if he's not controlling the ball up court.

This would leave our depth chart as is like this:

    C - Asik/D-Mo (or D-Mo/Asik)
    PF - Patterson/Jones (or Jones/Patterson)
SF - Parsons/White (White could take this spot eventually)
SG - Lamb/Livingston (Livingston would be the oldest guy on the team at 27)
    PG - Lin/Douglas/Fortson

Granted, this line-up could be changed up for the start of the season, but it's young and could be exciting without moving around too much. So what do you guys think? Could moving Livingston to the SG spot solve our Guard situation if Martin gets dealt?

No way we trade Martin without receving a serviceable SG in return.

The way our summer has gone, we might end up with more PF's. I hope not, but it has been out trend the past month.

I'd rather not think about J-Rich cause that just goes back to D12 drama.

Livingston, or stilts as i like to call him, should not be getting many minutes on this young team. Even if/when they trade Martin, I expect the Rockets to find another sg.

D12 drama is the reason Martin will leave.

I hope you are right, but in the case that we can't make another trade and don't want to bring in another scrub, I was asking if it would be possible that he could play 10-15 mpg to give Lamb a rest. I think he sucks too, but I just don't see what's going to change, unless we just keep Martin until his contract is up and use his salary and some "assets" to add some more depth next year.

If we start the year with him and he plays well, we might keep him around, but if it turns out like last year, I think he's gone by the trade deadline, regardless of a Dwightmare trade or not.

Sure he can play the sg.
He's a very flexible player. Very, very flexible.

    No, really!
I'm sure he can crack the rotation.

You might as well play Toney Douglas at the 2. He's not a Point Guard.

Livingston is on an expiring contract. Either he goes in the Dwight deal, or just goes.

Livingston is the better facilitator, so I think this gives him a real leg up on Toney Douglas

I was almost simply going by height, but would it work better like this?

    SG - Lamb/Douglas
    PG - Lin/Livingston
