Just a random thought... If we do get Dwight and a couple of Orlando's bad contracts, and definitely give up Lamb and Martin in doing so, we could be an embarrassingly bad free throw shooting team next year.

    2011-12 FT Shooting
    Toney Douglas - 84.6% (22/26)
    Quentin Richardson - 83.3% (25/30)
    Chris Duhon - 81.0% (17/21)
    Jeremy Lin - 79.8% (146/183)
    Marcus Morris - 75.0% (6/8)
    Hedo Turkoglu - 70.5% (67/95)
    Patrick Patterson - 70.2% (40/57)
    JuJuan Johnson - 66.7% (6/9)
    Terrence Jones - 62.7% (99/158)
    Jason Richardson - 59.4% (41/69)
    Chandler Parsons - 55.1% (43/78)
    Royce White - 49.8% (102/205)
    Dwight Howard - 49.1% (281/572)
    Omer Asik - 45.6% (47/103)

That group collectively shot a robust 58.4% from the line last year. I'll note that I don't expect us to take both Richardsons, Duhon, and Turkoglu, and obviously we'd be sending more players than just Lamb and KMart, but wow that's bad.

Dwight at 49.1%? I guess we shouldn't trade for him...

Yeah Morey has gotten rid of all our proven shooters...so one of lamb or martin has to stay and I vote lamb. He is our SG of the future because we traded Lee

While I wouldn't say that, it's actually kind of astonishing how bad he's gotten. He was a 67% FT shooter his rookie year. There's really no excuse for him not to be hitting around 75% by now.

Why is it an excellent point?

If shoe money dwarfs NBA salary money, then Dwight Howard would've opted out last year and gone to NJ for his 4-year contract.

If shoe money dwarfs NBA salary money, then Morey and every other GM would know this, and no GM would even consider touching Dwight Howard as he will just take the lesser MLE to sign in LA/NY.

If shoe money dwarfs NBA salary money, NBA star players would be all fighting to be playing in NY/LA for peanuts, and the Knicks/Nets wouldn't have to trade for supremely overpaid Joe Johnson, give up a #6 pick to make sure Gerald Wallace stays in Brooklyn, traded gazillion picks for the likes of Eddie Curry, Stephon Marbury, Steve Francis, use MLEs on Jerome Jones, Jared Jeffries, etc.

Until I actually see NBA players flocking to NY and LA on obviously smaller contracts, I call BS on this shoe deal thing. It make some difference, but certainly not comparable to NBA salaries. Addidas can put up ads with Dwight Howard in a Rockets uniform just fine.

This is just comical. Latest Sam Amico garbage:

    https://twitter.com/SamAmicoFSO

HOW DARE THE MAGIC LOOK OUT FOR THEMSELVES?!? Yes, Sam, the Magic are "complicating" things by actually seeking something other than pure trash for a franchise center under contract. Amazing that there are other priorities besides Dwight's desires!

I also remember him promising in an interview before last season that he would improve his FT shooting. So much for that...

Did anyone listen to Fox Sports Radio @ around 4:30 where they had Jarrod Rudolph on?

He came on there arms-a- blazin' and on the attack, trying to defend his credibility with the D12 wanting to resign with the Lakers if he should get traded there. "This ain't my first rodeo!!".

It was the funniest thing I've heard since this whole deal began, and in the end the hosts just hung up on his ass and told him to go find a better attitude

Hopefully someone got the audio from it, as it'd be a good listen for CF.

That website is full of drivel that I hope no one actually takes seriously. They pull stuff from their budget and give it to people that have NO idea about the specific sport or situation, and expect them to produce some quality work.

I know you aren't, but I'm just reminding everyone to not take most of what you find on BR seriously.

Here's what I could find on that.

There's a list underneath the media player where you can dig around and find it, but as of now it's the "latest."

Looks like they were arguing semantics more than anything.

Unfortunately, that's probably Ewing's fault. Why you would get Patrick Ewing of all people to mentor your young, potential franchise cornerstone on FT shooting is beyond me, but it is what it is I guess...

Based on what the reports say the Magic want (clear cap space and picks) and what the Rockets have to offer (cap room, recent draft picks balling it up in summer league, and Toronto’s guaranteed lottery pick), I think the Rockets will get Dwight Howard. In case Dwight Howard cannot be convinced to stay in Houston (which I think is the most likely case), the Rockets can still trade Dwight Howard by the trade deadline. I think the Rockets could either trade him to the Lakers (for Bynum) OR the Nets (for Lopez) at that point. Also, the Lakers/Nets can see how well Bynum/Lopez do the next year with the revamped teams. Win, win, win?

Sidenote: Personally, I don't want Bynum because of injury concerns and immaturity. At least Yao oozed class...
