That responsibility should fall on the theaters themselves. It's out of Warner Bros. hands IMO. If they do that then it's a borderline marketing ploy in my book. Unless their lawyers truly believe they can get sued because of this, but I doubt it.
Can you blame WB though? They're probably thinking how this could ultimately affect what could be their biggest opening weekend ever.
I don't think it'll affect the Bo result in any way, and I'm expecting it to be the biggest opener for a Nolan film ever...
I would expect that theater to cancel all it's shows obviously, but to cancel just Batman screenings across the whole country seems a bit much. Leave it up to people if they'd prefer to stay home. And while I think it could very well affect it's opening weekend business, it'll probably end up meeting expectations, just will take a little bit longer to get there. Obviously it's in no way comparable to the victims or their families, but I can't imagine what Nolan must be feeling. Dark Knight he lost Heath Ledger, and now this..and apparently the gunman referred to himself as the Joker. In any case, I still plan on seeing it and I'd imagine most people will too. Perhaps the larger theater chains can put together some sort of short "moment of silence" clip to honor the victims, to play before all shows, not just Batman. Sorta like God Bless America being played at baseball games following Sept 11.
Spoiler When the doctor tells Bruce Wayne that there was no cartilage between his knees, I immediately thought he should go for micro-fracture surgery like T-Mac . Seriously though, what a brilliant ending to the trilogy. I don't think this ending could have been handled better. hats off to Chris and Jonathan Nolan for their work with Batman. Fantastic!
Amazing 10/10 Watched it in true imax, damn thing messed up like 10 min in and then we had to wait 20 min for them to fix it...I was like...really?!

How early do I need to be at the theater? For those of you who went and watched the movie today, how long have the lines been and how soon did you have to arrive at the theater to get a decent seat? I'm watching it tomorrow morning at the Edwards IMAX. How much earlier would y'all recommend I arrive at the theater? Thanks

All in all, I give TDKR a solid 9.8 out of 10. I'm afraid I have to take off .2 simply because I just didn't feel or believe in Hines Ward's acting. Quite frankly, he nearly ruined the picture.
Just saw it a 3rd time in regular format. IMAX is definitely the way to go. Man I absolutely love this movie. I'm really hoping for a director's cut edition when it releases on blu ray.
