Difference now is that Wade would have traded Carpenter for Cordero straight up and then given Cordero a 5 yr contract extension at $8 million per. I might be exaggerating slightly...

Cordero = closer and Myers = back to the rotation to try and build some value back after failing in the bullpen of late and killing his value there? LOL...don't think so, but it came to mind..
No point in that now. By the time Myers would be able to rework himself as a starter, it will be September. He still has value as a reliever. Let Keuchel come up and show what he's got for the rest of the season.
hopefully, but i don't really see the acquisition of coco as one of the seven players having any bearing on that. i'm sure that was to take his salary off their hands. finding a "quality" closer to replace myers for the last 70 games of a lost season is obviously not necessary at this point.
Great trade. I would like to see some other moves made to go along with this.. Wandy and Myers - traded for anything we can get Fernando Rodriguez, Bogusevic, Bixler, Corporan, and Downs either cut or sent down Maxwell relegated to bench permanently Barnes and F-Mart brought up in outfield. Wallace and Paredes brought up in infield. Replace Corporan with Powell until Castro is healthy. For the rest of the year.. SP: Norris SP: Harrell SP: Lyles SP: Kuechel SP: Galarraga RP: Abad RP: Lopez RP: Del Rosario RP: Cruz RP: Wright RP: Cordero RP: Storey C: Snyder, Powell, (Castro) 1B: Wallace 2B: Altuve 3B: Johnson SS: Gonzalez (Lowrie) RF: Paredes, F-Mart CF: Schafer, Maxwell LF: Martinez, Francisco
I actually had to look up where DeBerry, Texas (Rollins' hometown) was. It's in far, far East Texas, near Carthage.
Let's not go crazy here. This was a good trade for the Astros but it wasn't a steal like everyone thinks. Happ has a lot more value than people think. He's a young lefty with good K-rates who has shown major league success in the past. He's also got 3 years of team control left I think. Players like that don't grow on trees. It makes perfect sense for the Blue Jays to acquire a cheap, talented young lefty to backend their rotation while they're trying to compete. I think as a fan base Happ was never going to live up to our expectation because a) he was traded for Roy Oswalt and b) our rotation is so bad we NEEDED him to pitch better than the 4/5 starter he is.
But for Happ to be the centerpiece of the deal that brings in these prospects is pretty impressive. Yes, Happ has value but I don't think anyone thought it was that much.
This is moreso a hind site statement, but Happ has just as much or more trade value than Wandy. Trading a young/cheap/talented lefty is way easier than trade an older/ridiculously expensive lefty who isn't pitching that much better.
