And so, what, like around $6M of that is non-guaranteed? We could theoretically be around $8M under the cap right now? Awesome.
Thank you for the updates. Now a quick question I would have asked long time ago: Are you the real Carl Herrera, 30th overall in the 1990 Draft?
Thanks CH. I think they need to waive Moore and Williams today to get back to 15 players under contract, which will put us at about $4.5m under the cap. Just for fun, I think we can do a deal with Orlando as follow: 1) Trade Livingstone for Duhon. Salaries are about the same and Orlando can waive Livingstone to save $2.5m. 2) Waive Harrellson, we are now about $5m under the cap. 3) Trade Forbes ($1.5m) for Davis ($6.5m). That should put us over the cap. 4) Trade KMart (12.5m), PPat (2m), Morris (2M), Smith, Fortson & Simpson non-guarantee contracts (2.2m), rights of Jones & White, 2 first round picks, 2nd round picks, for DH and Jason Richardson. What we send out is about 75% of DH and JR's salaries. I know we are giving up a lot and taking back a lot of bad contracts, but in this scenario we are keeping Lamb, DMo, and Chandler. Orlando saves about $17m in salary this year, plus they get a bunch of picks. They can also flip KMart for a first round pick at the trade deadline later in the season.
It's this part why I don't want Dwight, but I fear this is what it'll take. As long as we keep Lamb and Dmo and Parsons, I'll breathe better. But it's a costly rental.
