If we trade for Howard it will be before training camp, Asik can't be traded before then.

While he could be traded after December 15, I seriously doubt Asik will be traded...ever. We are the only team that will benefit from the contract structure. Every other team will be eating a poison pill contract and unless he blows up, he is nowhere nearly worth 14+ a year.

If the Lakers resign Bynum, I can see the situation just stalling until Lopez/Bynum/Asik are all tradeable again. And if Asik axplodes starting the season, we'll be in a great situation once again. Basically any way you look at the Howard situation, the Rockets are just destined to play a major role.

If he's traded, the cap hit will be the same as it is for us. The "poison pill" only effects Chicago I believe. Or so Carl said about a similar situation in an earlier post.

As usual Carl is right and I am wrong. It becomes a true poison pill contract if the bulls match. So it would really be hard to trade if the bulls matched. However I still don't think he will have positive trade value until he puts up better numbers and the is what Morey is banking on.

When can Asik sign the offer sheet? Should be any time today by my calculation.

Doesn't lee, and everybody else in the trade haft to check out first? Physicals and what not. Also don't we haft to clear the waivers for Moore and Williams before we can make an offer to asik? wouldn't that push this deal back another 2 days?

no, we are just waiting for the two players they released Wed to clear waivers after 48 hours (leuer and jordan)

The CLee deal has nothing to do with the Asik offer sheet signing

It may be because he can't do anything else, but love it that Asik only wants to go up and dunk the ball every single time!

Lol, am i the only one annoyed by the way he swings his feet up every time he dunks? No doubt he's going to kick a couple of heads in practice.

I know I will be keeping an eye out for news breaking on a team claiming Leuer. I think its safe to assume when that happens the offer sheet can or will already be signed.

totally agree. We've had guys like Yao who wouldn't always dunk it, guys who didn't have the size to always do it even if they wanted to, guys who kinda couldn't like Hayes and Scola..

I'm ready for this. A dude like Otis who will dunk it anytime he can. And can go up through contact and throw it down anyway

Reminds me of when Ewing once said "I try to dunk it as hard as possible..so next time I go to dunk it, they'll think twice before they try and block it"

Seeing the Asik highlight reel did make me a bit more comfortable as his hands don't look as bad as I heard. My favorite was his rejection of Love (putting him on his azz in the process). While it didn't show how he defends (other than rejections), just getting someone to stop layup practice will be a good thing. I was actually pretty impressed by watching how active the Bulls were throughout the video... guys running and going to the basket constantly. Must be a fun team to follow. I was pretty impressed with Watson and of course, Gibson (guys is really active and surprised by how comfortable he is with the ball). Hopefully our 6-9 PFs will watch this too.
