Steve Bulpett @SteveBHoop Deal originally had NOrl and PHX to facilitate, but that did, indeed, blow up. That's why there was so much scrambling earlier.
Could a potential Howard deal have been waiting more on this (and maybe a Dragic SnT??) as opposed to the Lin/Asik deals? Is it possible we could see some movement on that front very soon?
I love how the Celtics beat writer "breaks" the story on Portland's involvement and the inclusion of Pavlovic, then basically goes to bed ... WITHOUT REPORTING THE ACTUAL FREAKING TRADE!!! Tired of waiting. I'm going to bed.
I think Dragic would be a BYC compensation player in a trade. So he we can only count 50% of his new salary in a trade, almost $4M, but the incoming salary has to be at 100% of his salary. Phoenix can sign him outright if they so desire, but they havent yet for some reason. I assume it's bc they can sign him to a better contract once we relinquish his rights. Hopefully we can snag a 2nd rounder if it comes to a S&T, although I'm still not sure why they would want to do that in the first place.
I thought the idea was we would get a trade exception for sending one of OUR 2nd rounders to Phoenix? Is that still possible to do?
I'm not really sure if we have to send them any salary at all since they have the cap space to sign him outright.
No, not to help them land Dragic TexAg, to buy a trade exception from them to use in a Dwight Howard deal.
I suppose that's possible too, but can we even send them a player without receiving anything in return but a trade exception?
I spied Rocketgirl on live stream in that game.. posted that I just saw here behind the beach ...like 3rd row, at the time on the game BBS. zzpot.
Oh wait... stop the Rockets did not play the Celtic this year in summer league.. My bad. But I did see at one game i'm sure. zzpot.
Feel kind of stupid that I just noticed the first rounder we got is from Charlotte. That's a legit asset, good chance they're still worst team in the NBA, and first pick of the 2nd round is arguably more valuable than last pick of the 1st. This may be a useful asset in the Howard trade.
So do the Rockets take on Sasha Pavlovic too? I know that Moore is going to be traded and released by Portland. Or who gets Pavlovic? Rockets or Celtics?
The heck? So why was a third team even involved if we keep Moore? I thought he was the issue. Or did the C's need to add more salary and we wanted someone else to take Pavlovic? I'm confused.
