Thibs is the best defensive coach in the NBA. If Lin and Martin are still with the team, Asik will be put to the test, that is for sure.

I honestly think we are out of the Dwight/Bynum race, why would we trade for a center when Asik will be the highest paid backup center in the nba at 8mil?

With dwight possibly leaving next season asik can then step in and be our starting C. If dwight get injured, he can step in a be our starting C, im also sure we can have both dwight and asik on the floor at the same time. It won't be to pretty on offense but it will be dominant on D. If we get bynum who is injury prone, same deal.

Man still 8mil for a center to back up the 2 best centers in the game is a lot of money, maybe they will use him as trade bait to bring in a 2nd star.

    Asik/Patterson for Jsmoove.

i like the emphasis on rebounding this offseason: asik, jones, white, motiejunas (though i'm skeptical about his euro rebounding rate translating)

Actually Rodman was a terrific all around player on the Pistons, though better at defense than offense. He decided to focus on one thing only and become freakishly good at it, at the expense of everything else.

Strangely that is when he started to become famous. We all love a freak.
    That Pistons team was badass.

I like Asik. It is paying mucho for a backup if he ends up being that. But I think overpaying the center position in that case. I think a specific skill of his (that I have read about) was pick and roll defense. His elite level of play there may warrant a good chunk of that money alone.

Maybe he signed the paper, but they can't turn it in until tomorrow?

Morey said in an interview with 710 AM in Los Angeles that Asik will sign the offer sheet tomorrow.

Seriously. I actually think Asik might be better than McGee and he's getting paid less. McGee is the epitomy of an empty box score guy, he plays for the stats, not for the team. Asik is pretty much the exact opposite, an underrated guy who doesn't put up big numbers but plays smart and tough, especially on D.

Did you hear what Lesley Alexander said today during the Jeremy Lin press conference? To stay content is stupid.

I'm pretty excited to have him on the Rockets! Hopefully he is able to work on his offense a little bit, but his defense and rebounding will be great!

Asik- 3 yr 25 mill- approx 8 mil a year
Mcgee- 4 yr 44 mil- approx 11 mil a year

i would have went after mcgee(a legit starting center), rather than a backup center getting paid 8 mil a year. the difference in their price wasn't that much...

Not sure if you're serious, 3 million a year is definitely a big difference. Plus not to mention McGee is getting a 4th year and Morey hasn't shown his willingness to sign any players past 3 years.

^Signing RFA to 3 years maximizes their per year salary, thus making it harder for teams to match. I wouldn't want McGee anyways, he will forever be a guy that never lives up to his potential and will give you multiple headaches a game. He would become Clutchfans' newest scapegoat.

Younger, with more talent. McGee is a good shot blocker, rebounder, and decent offensive player. That said, the guy is an idiot, and won't necessarily help you win games.
