Dwight update: Not close to a trade with Rockets

The agent for Lakers All-Star Andrew Bynum said he has held no discussions with the Cavaliers and doesn't believe a deal involving his client to Cleveland is imminent.

"I've had zero conversations with Chris Grant," said David Lee, Bynum's agent. "I would imagine any team involved in this trade would be smart enough to talk to us."

While Bynum is under contract to the Lakers, it is common in trades of this magnitude for agents to be consulted before a deal is completed. Particularly in the case of Bynum, who can be a free agent at the end of the season.

Cleveland was listed in a recent Yahoo Sports report as a potential destination Bynum would consider in free agency next summer, but Lee said he had no idea how the two were linked.

"I am often puzzled as to the basis of an article. I am particularly puzzled with that one," Lee said. "When I read it, I was in Alaska with Andrew and his family. I have no clue who he could have been talking to. I was taken aback by the list, considering there is nobody in anybody's camp he could've been talking to. I have no idea where that came about."

Asked if Bynum would indeed be interested in signing long-term with the Cavaliers, who have the cap space to take him, Lee declined comment.

"We are not in position to discuss that at this time," he said.

The Cavs couldn't feasibly trade for Bynum without him agreeing to an extension.

The Cavs have been mentioned as possible trade partners with the Los Angeles Lakers and Orlando Magic as the Magic continue to explore trade options involving Dwight Howard.

Multiple news outlets have reported Thursday that Howard is now open to signing an extension with the Lakers, but that shouldn't have much bearing on the trade negotiations. The Lakers were already pursuing Howard heavily even without an agreement from him to commit to the franchise long term

2 weeks ago Woj was saying that New Jersesy all but had dwight and Orlando wasn't even considering us.

Woj is one of the best out there in terms of credibility, but I would hesitate to read into this until the story's complete.

It's actually just Orlando trolling everyone, the whole NBA, including the media and even us the fans.

 

3 team deals can easily fall apart. And it was contingent on somebody taking on humphries , he was clear in saying that. This guy never fails, he has flies minds hacked so he can see what's going on in NBA front offices

If folks would actually read the Woj story and not just the tweet, it's fairly pessimistic for a CLE-LA-ORL three-way. The Lakers want the framework of a deal to be in place before they allow the Cavs to talk to Bynum, but there's no such framework there and Orlando is acting "indecisive". Hmm, I wonder why. Perhaps it's that Orlando knows its best offer is elsewhere and they're just using the three-way talk to leverage Morey/show Fegan "we tried"?

 

I will only play for brooklyn.. no wait.. cleveland.. no wait.. l.a. this guy just walks around with a foot in his mouth. It's sad really, Dwight was one of the most liked players in the league only a few years ago.. crazy

The Woj story in no way contradicts the Lloyd information from four hours ago. In fact, the Lloyd story actually supplements the Woj info quite well, since Lloyd's read was that Bynum wouldn't commit to signing an extension in Cleveland even if things got to that point.

 

Then you will do what? Do share.

 

It won't be that big a deal. Howard isn't guaranteed to stay and Bynum has injury problems.

 

Let's roll with what we got. I think with time to gel the youngsters could be pretty good.

 

I'm afraid he just might post a thread about it. Hopefully for the sake of our fair city Da'Rel will close the deal.
