I'm confused by this. Are you trying to say that the Rockets can offer market value for Bynum but the Cavs can't and can only get him by overpaying?

What if Cle to get Bynum is willing to take on way more bad contracts than Houston? No one ever seems to have brought that up anywhere here. The report of Houston willing to take ALL the bad contracts ORL wants to dump was very inaccurate. Even more so now w/Lin/Asik.

They can't, Houston has more financial flexibility than CLE

He lives there in the off season. Dwight is HOLLYWOOD... Think about it....

Also Adidas is pushing for it! His contract is coming up and they will double it if he goes to LA. So think about this... Wherever he goes he will make the same amount in NBA money, but why not go somewhere where your endorsements will flourish.

Also, from an agents stand point many don't know this, but agents make 3%-4% on NBA contracts, but 20%-25% on endorsements etc. If you were Dwights agent, where would you want him to go?

Do you think they're comfortable enough with a Bynum/Irving combination going forward to take more of the bad contracts? Wouldn't this in theory hamper their rebuilding process significantly?

Not saying they want to... This is info I do not know, just speculating and providing questions that people may not be looking at.

I understand, appreciate the insight. Do you have any idea about the Courtney Lee situation? Are he and his agent biding their time waiting until Dwight goes somewhere/are they cooperating with the Rockets FO under the assumption that the Rockets will land a franchise cornerstone in the near future (not saying that that will happen, but hey it'd be nice). Or are Lee and his agent just waiting for the market to develop more, though I would think at this stage in FA it would have pretty much developed by now.

Didn't Houston renounce his rights? Meaning Houston can't use the bird rights for him?

now that we got lin and asik...im a little bit more content with trying out young guys....deal martin for whatever...maybe a deal for E gordon later.

    But

at least two of Lin , lamb, white, Donuts, Jones , Patterson and Morris could turn out to be all stars.

Then Asik I think will be much bigg acquistion then everyone here knows.

Cyberx, don't you think Dwight and his agent would consider the endorsement implications of playing along Lin?

And what a sad place the NBA would be if players signed deals based on the cut their agents received on their shoe contracts.

I sure hope players aren't swayed much by that.

I mean we already laugh at Sprewell lamenting about feeding his family. Now we have to worry about Sprewell feeding his agent's family too? Please.

I believe that we renounced the cap hold on him but not his bird rights if I'm not mistaken

Doesn't matter... How many nationally televised games does Houston have? For some reason Houston doesn't have that appeal.

No one can compare to the Lakers at all...

Dwight pushed the Magic to trade for Nash during the deadline last year, now Nash is in LA.

Dwight has been wanting to play with Gasol as well.

The value for Dwight's brand in playing alongside Lin wouldn't necessarily be limited to the United States, though. McGrady's brand soared in Asia while playing with Yao, from what I understand. It literally opened up a whole new world of opportunities for him that would not have been open had he not been Yao's teammate.

Things happen that are so shady in this business... You have no idea... You think Rashard Lewis really signed for what he signed?

Money was given under the table... We live in a VERY corrupt system.

I hate to burst your bubble, but I have little to no doubt that it is a huge factor. If it ultimately represents money, it's a factor...presumably a pretty big factor when you consider the amounts of money that pass under those agreements.

How does Dwight get there if we refuse to help? Our offer is the best on the table, and Orlando isn't going to be too concerned about what Dwight wants, they're going to do what's best for their franchise.

Unfortunately for Dwight he's in a situation where if a team trades for him and calls his bluff (refuses to be bullied into trading him where he wants to go) it is literally impossible for him to play basketball in New York OR LA. Unless he wants to go play some streetball in the hood.
