I'm hoping we "lose" out on both.

Two top 10 picks next year plus Dallas pick plus cap room to sign another FA? Yes please. Daryl may not have been able to make the "big deal" as of yet but he has proven to be elite in analyzing talent, just hasn't had the ability to draft elite talent in the middle of the draft. Imagine what he could do with two lottery picks added to our young core? Sign me up. I'd rather one year of mediocrity followed by a decade of success than the other way around.

Abused by who? Howard and Bynum?

Beyond those 2 guys, it doesn't matter. If Dmo isn't a center, 75% of the league don't play a center for most of the game.

I would target one of the young Utah bigs. Kanter or Favors. Both of those guys can play center and have big time potential. Maybe they'd consider sending us one for the TOR and DAL picks and one of our combo forwards of their choice.

Why would they consider such a deal, well they have too many centers and not enough PT to go around. Jefferson, Kanter, and Favors.

Centers aren't centers in today's NBA, many teams are playing small ball. Dmo can play the 5 in most situations, but I think Asik and DMo starting together can be a good tall frontcourt tandem. Then again we have a lot of forwards and I can see McHale playing DMo at the 5 a lot to get those forwards PT. We can play a faster tempo and and have better offensive flow with DMo at the 5.

I can see DMo getting the bulk of the center minutes and for centers that are too physical for Dmo, Asik can come in for that. Having a versatile 7 footer gives you many options.

We won't collect on that Dallas pick any time soon. Good chance we don't land that pick until 2018.

He would get pushed around by most centers in the league. Just not enough strength. He's 7 foot but not big enough to play the 5. His best position is PF because he has serious mismatch potential there and he's not just quick for a 7 footer, he's quick for any power forward. Combination of being taller AND quicker than most guys guarding you is lethal.

Be patient and rebuild. We develop the young guys while improve chances with the lottery aka the OKC route to be contender

Sadly, if we don't land 'the star', in 2 years we will be right back on the 14th fringe, but at least we will have upside. However, if someone on this roster, right now, doesn't become a superstar, we are never getting one out of the draft. They will be good enough to not suck. (never means in this decade, because it's ludicrous to say 'never' when actually meaning ever =P)

Ill be quite relieved and content with us not getting either of those guys. Howard wont sign an extension, and probably wont start playing til january. The discussion about bynum's injury in the other thread should scare everyone if we are in the mix of getting bynum.

This, and I suspect that's Morey's plan as well. Either we sell the farm for Dwight, we keep the farm and pray for a lotto win, or we get Bynum without giving up too much.

Yeah, I feel like Motiejuanas would be wasted playing center. And I think that's why Morey brought in Asik, someone who can do the things Motie shouldn't to prevent him from setting bad habits. Same with Lin, if the rookies are going to learn the game, they need a solid point guard.
