Pippen: Penny and Hakeem... there's two guys who will whine when things don't go their way. Thoughts? This is about the 1996 Olympics. Scottie continued by saying Hakeem cried because he didn't get enough playing time. Apparently, Shaq and Penny also skipped practices due to issues about playing time, which Barkley implied in the book.
What's your source? If true, it's the pot calling the kettle black. Pippen cried on the bench during the '94 playoffs when Phil Jackson drew up the last play for Toni Kukoc. His words mean nothing to me.
Pippen is a b****. He has proven after his career that he is threatened by great players. He constantly hates on Jordan, who everyone believes is the best player ever. He does this to solidify himself. Hakeem was the most humble/grounded human being in the league in the mid to late 90s. Pipped can suck it
I'm 31 Chapters in to the Dream Team book by Jack McCallum. If this is the book your referring to, please let me know what chapter this is in.
Source: The Dream Team book that was released a few weeks back. Drexler's supposedly controversial comments about Magic wasn't too bad in context. Apparently, no one wanted Isiah on the team especially Malone, Magic, Pippen, and Jordan... and here's the kicker: Rodman got more consideration than Thomas to be on the team. And... in the practices, a team of college players featuring Grant Hill beat the Dream Team.
Don't have the book in front of me but it's in the one reference to Olajuwon in the index. 2nd to last chapter.
I can maybe see Hakeem making those comments aside to a teammate in private like in the locker room without the media, Hakeem was a prideful person and to take a backseat to Shaq and DRob who he already outplayed in the playoffs was kinda insulting to him. But Pippen airing dirty laundry like that tells a lot about him. He hates on others because of his own shortcomings; getting ripped off leaving him almost broke, always known as Jordan's sidekick, not winning a ring without Jordan.
That was a close call. I thought perhaps he had said something complimentary about Dream and I'd have to begrudgingly give him some respect for it. Thankfully Quiten did what Quiten does, acts like the punk ass second fiddle, most overrated, p***y mother ****er he is. Thanks for being you Pippen. It's nice to wake up knowing there's at least one person I can hate today.
Are Scottie's 15 minutes of fame ever going to end? Go away dude. You're one of the most overrated all-time greats in any sport ever. You're an all time great for being the supreme role player. Congratulations... you're Robin. Go away.
After the way he punked out in Houston, the word hypocrisy really doesn't do this situation any justice. Pippen is a scumbag. An absolute scumbag.
Here's the exact excerpt: "In some press reports, Hakeem Olajuwon, a native Nigerian who had just been granted US Citizenship, was presented as THE model teammate on the '96 squad. Pippen said that wasn't the case. "Penny and Hakeem...there's two guys who will whine when things don't go their way. Hakeem got mad at Lenny because he didn't play against Greece. 'I've never had a DNP in my life!' he was shouting at Lenny. He was so mad that tears were coming out of his eyes. I'm telling you, it was bad. I enjoyed Atlanta, I guess, but it wasn't the same. And it wasn't a Dream Team'" So yes, he did call out Hakeem but it wasn't in THAT bad of context. Hakeem just wanted to play.
