Don't want Dwight and this is why. Because he doesn't rise to the challenge of bringing a championship to Houston. Which makes Bynum better than Dwight. Choosing Bynum over Howard you are only giving up a little bit on defense. Howard covers a little more of the floors with his defensive presence. But Bynum is more adequate on defense.

This makes a ton of sense. All the talk about the magic not being in a hurry seems like they are waiting for us. Hope this is true

They have Bynum to offer to a third team willing to pay for him. They can pass off McRoberts, Blake and Ebanks for a couple of Orlando's lousy contracts. And they have at least one suitor, just begging to help facilitate a deal to net them Howard.

The ball's in our court, but if we get greedy we could easily find ourselves on the outside looking in. For me, that would be unacceptable.

I know he's the whateverist center in the association, but the guy is still a man-child. I love the Rockets too much to want him to be the pouty face of my favorite sports franchise in the world.

I'd rather watch a few years of lottery ball and watching good young players get better than go all in on a guy that has no loyalty to anyone or anything but his shoe contract.

Agreed. I think Dwight chooses Houston, and barring the Lakers or Bulls clearing enough cap space to offer him the max next offseason, he stays a Rocket and signs a max extension.

What he ment to say was..'I can't lead a team to a championship'

If Dwight comes to Houston we will win at least 3 Championships in the next 5-7 years.

    Book it.

It's not flawed thinking, it's perfectly reasonable. We should do what we must do to help us get better, even if it helps the Lakers. If 2-3 years from now some team wants to bend over and let the Lakers give it to them in the butt by way of a Kobe for young prospects/picks trade, then so be it, but it won't be our fault. If the trade in question involving us is fair, or more importantly, our best/only option, then get over yourself and do it.

I'll go with the belief that the new Magic GM is going to get the most return for his team. I don't think he cares about what Howard wants. The real question is how can LA, Cavs or whoever beat a Houston bid. Morey and Les may not be willing to pay the price but if they are Howard is ours.

But everything changes depending on where Howard decides to play. Each place gives Orlando more opportunity to get a deal done. Of course a LA deal also hinges on Bynum. But Jo is right that the Cavs can't offer more than us. If Morey wants Howard he just needs to offer more than Cle can for Bynum. Not seeing how anyone can disagree with that, as long as Morey doesn't care about getting an extension now.

Actually. I think its the other way around. Orl is scurrying trying to find a deal better (but can't) than ours while we wait. That's why its checkmate.

    DwightLogic:

Orlando Front Office lied to me, twice. I don't trust what organizations say to me anymore. (Even though Orlando tried to get everyone I told them to get, minus SJAX, but still.)

I want to go to Brooklyn, but I lose a lot of money if I sign there without my bird rights. Is there a team that wants Brooks Lopez in January that also has what Orlando wants now? Nope, only Houston has anything Orlando wants right now, and they won't trade me to the Nets. Forget the Nets.

My agent says LA is next best thing and he can pressure Hennigan to force a trade there, if Henny knows what's good for him. Still, LA don't have what the Magic wants and I really don't want to play second fiddle to Kobe or be repped as Shaq the sequel.

What's my other choice, though? Houston and Linsanity? I think I'd rather be in LA. Either way, I can get my boys on my team eventually. Houston knows I won't leave money on the table and, once I get my back right, I'll have to play my way back into everyone's hearts.

If I don't get to LA right now, I may get stuck in Houston.

And to think, all this drama before he even gets here.

I am not in favor of giving up and of our 4 young guys right now to get this guy and have him flip flopping all year like a dying fish.

I know summer league is not the best place to judge talent but I like the outlook of what I saw. Jones, Lamb, White and Montijunas look nice. Greene's breakout 40 point game was just standing outside making open 3's but these guys showed glimpses in different ways all over: running the floor, exceptional passing, hustle, ball handling as well as offensively.

If we are gonna be fleeced for Dwight and then have to start all over in the offseason because Dwight walks away, then just scrap that now and go with Lin, Asik and the young guys. Then we make our bed with what is available next offseason or with whatever draft picks we have next year to get a #1 type guy.

Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Magic Johnson... they thought nobody could beat them. Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant (yes Kobe), Lebron James - they think they can't win. And y'all wonder why the NFL is a juggernaut.

No one is saying give up all of the rooks for him. 2 at the max (and it shouldn't be lamb or dmo).

    No.

There's no secret machinery at work here. This kind of paranoia is silly. There's only one person in the world who determines where Dwight Howard will play this season, and that is Rob Hennigan. If he trades Howard to LA, it's because he feels that the Lakers' package is the best deal Orlando can get.

Nobody else has any kind of leverage on him. The NBA might love to see Dwight in Los Angeles, but they have no way of influencing Hennigan's decision. Dwight might love to go to Brooklyn, but as long as he is under contract, he has no way of influencing Hennigan's decision. And he might love to go to the Lakers or Nets as a free agent, but as long as those teams are capped out, he cannot do it for a max contract.

Look, it's not out of the realm that Howard finished out the season in the Staples Center, but if he does, it's because the Lakers offered the package the Magic liked the best. You can talk about x-factors all you want, but until you can present a plausible explanation for why Hennigan would trade him to LA for an inferior package, just to be nice to Buss family, this doesn't make sense.

Except for Bynum, that's a ****ty group of players! We can offer young guys with upside.

There's a lot of people supposing with Dwight wants or thinks. Dwight and his people are doing/saying everything that they can to get him to his most favorable place. And they should.

Bottom line is, come next year no one knows how he's going to act when his decision involves leaving $25 million on the table.

Uh, they each spent substantial time with future HOF'ers and allstars alongside them and failed miserably when they went at it alone. Oh, and random nonsensical NFL non sequitur!

This is how superstars view lottery teams. Was anybody surprised that we haven't been able to get a marquee free agent to sign here. This is a lotto team after all LOL
