There are plenty of people who think a team won't win with Dwight being the primary guy.

He needs to pair with another star in order to get his championship wish.

    Marc Stein:

[Dwight saying he'll extend] encourages [LA] more. Doesn't really changes things all that much. They've been trying for a Howard trade. Lakers have to find a 3rd team to provide draft picks and find a 3rd team to take on contracts. Until that happens, not gonna be able to make a deal for Dwight.

Some [power in Bynum's hands]. Depends on what 3rd team emerges. If it's Cleveland, I would imagine the Cavs would be dead set on we need a commitment. Houston hasn't reached a firm position on this but are bigger gamblers on this. They would trade for Dwight with no extension. Houston would be more willing to gamble. Bynum can make more in FA [rather than signing now].

[Orlando's] Message is, there is no pressure on us. Whether you want to believe that is your call. Can't imagine the Magic want this to go into next season. Certainly won't wait until January. Magic are telling teams they're in no rush but Lakers are prepping for it. They're trying to find a 3rd team. Magic don't feel a need to do this today, tomorrow or next week.

At this point, if we don't go in some other team like the Cavs are going to take our place.

Do what you can to get Bynum, don't take back more than 2 bad contracts along with Bynum and don't send more than 1 of our rookies (****ing give them morris/Patpat instead) along with Kevin Martin and our picks.

Yeah really. Why would he think a team of Deron/Joe Johnson/Gerald Wallace/Dwight Howard could win anything?

This X100. Bynum is not worth having the Lakers dominate again. This is just like the CP3 trade, we gave everything to NO, but LA got Paul.

**** this deal. We shouldn't have to pay Orlando's asking price only to get Bynum.

Now we know why Les said what he said yesterday. Basically bracing the fan base. There won't be anymore trades probably. Gonna roll with what we got and Asik. With Lin as the leader of the team.

It doesn't really necessarily take 3 superstars to win a championship. A lot of factors are needed to win.

First, you need your number 1 go to guy who's a major superstar that can score in crunch time and score at will. Then you need your other supporting cast who can also be another superstar or all star caliber players. 2nd and 3rd option should be able to take the scoring load off the 1st option. They should be able to score on their own without needing someone else to create their own shots for them (especially the 2nd option). But the 3 main players have to be able to play well together, able to play off of each other and have great chemistry. Plus the entire team has to have great chemistry together, they have to believe in their coaching system in order to succeed.

Just because you have a few stars on you team doesn't mean you can be successful. Look at the Knicks for example with Melo, they have a star studded team but their main guys don't play well together. The stars in NY are great individual players but they cannot play off each other. The players have to know their roles and not trying to take over the team.

Dwight cannot carry the load as the alpha dog. If Dwight Howard is the main scoring option on a team, he will never win a chip. Him deciding to stay with the Lakers if traded their do make sense. He know Kobe is the main guy, the alpha dog, the number 1 option and it is easy for him to go there and immediately be the 2nd option. He will still have Pau or Nash to back him up. Plus when Kobe & Nash retires, he can just take over the LA Lakers afterwards. But the main thing is, do he have what it takes to play with a Kobe Bryant and be 2nd fiddle.

@JRudolphSports The word for today is checkmate. Morey has your man checkmated. Might as well accept it. Welcome 2 Houston, Dwight.

Meh. Say they win the next two titles: What of it? Highly unlikely that we're going to win one in the next two years even if we got Howard. And the Lakers are trying to get as much out of Kobe while he's still Kobe, and how much longer is that going to be?

As of right now, it would be my preference to trade for Dwight, then ship him to the Lakers for Bynum if it looks like we're going to lose him for nothing. But the more I think about it, it seems to me that LA's ability to absorb one or two of Orlando's onerous contracts could make a potential deal a lot more palatable for us.

Either way, we need to come away with Dwight or Bynum IMO.

I don't really see how anyone can argue with him. This team is not built to win right now. If a Howard trade went through, we would have to send Kevin Martin. That would leave us with Toney Douglas, and his three years of experience, as our most senior player. Jeremy Lin might as well be considered one of our veterans. Our 15 players have 13 years of combined experience if you take away Martin. Why the F would Howard WANT to come here?

I'm not a troll. I'm just looking at this objectively.

Guys, here's the reality of what is going to happen.

Hennigan is going to go through this charade for a few more days until the Asik signing is complete. At that point, he'll visit with Dwight, he'll walk through the litany of trade talks, he'll tell Dwight why he couldn't trade him to Brooklyn or to LA, he'll lay out why Houston has the best deal for the Orlando Magic.......

and then he's going to give Dwight the final choice

Dwight will decide whether he is traded to Houston or signs an extension with Orlando.

    It's just that simple.

Dwight will have a choice between Houston for 1 year or Orlando for 3 years.

I don't think he can either. Maybe, if he could make free throws, he would make a difference. Please, Morey, just pass on this injured, flawed athlete-- and serial PR disaster-- in favor of young, healthy, basketball players with upside.

Randolph Is the RealGm guy who has spent the last 24 hours doing interviews with ESPN and such campaigning for Dwight to go to the Lakers now.

I just love how ALMOST everyone in the national media keeps on talking about Dwight's "CHOICE" to go here or there.

Newsflash folks, there is no choice here in the matter. If Dwight wants to go here or there, then its going to take a team like Houston or Cleveland going out of their way to make it happen. The teams he wants have no way to aquire him.

Everyone in the media keeps on acting like they are so incredibly frustrated with Dwights "indecision." These guys are frustrated with themselves then, because there is not decision to make. This isn't the Lebron Summer of 2010. You cant just pick a team anymore.

So in essence, the new CBA is already working. Its just that nobody in the Media really wants to recognize it yet.

Having Dwight on their roster opens them up to being the team that the next whiny star wants to go to. You have to break the cycle. Deny these stars that market.

I used to really love this guy, his antics on the court and off were pretty funny.

Now, I loathe this POS. Just another dip **** athlete who feels he's OWED something and still trying to choose HIS team while screwing his organization. Congrats Dwight, you're now many levels below Lebron on the **** list, and you're just continuing to make the NBA look like a joke. Cannot stand your immature, whiny crybaby ass.

When your back "heals", bend over and blow your own ****. b****.
