What are the Lakers supposed to do? Not try to improve their hand and go after a title because the other teams think it's their turn?

Stern has the authority to block it, but there would be no basis for him to intervene. His excuse last time was that he was, in effect, the owner of the New Orleans Hornets and didn't approve the trade.

Howard has honored his commitments to Orlando and the league and if by consenting to re-sign with the Lakers assuming he's traded gets the deal done and sends him to Los Angeles, the league would have to consent to the deal.

Especially since the Lakers would almost certainly have to give up Bynum in return, whether a three way deal or not.

Yea but don't you think the lakers would have to give up more than just Bynum to Orl? Obviously Orlando would never trade Howard for Bynum straight up, the lakers would have to take on some contracts too, which would soften the blow for us...

So we shouldn't do it!! We hold the cards cause LA can't trade straight up for him... I just cannot live with Dwight Howard being a Laker unless we get a great deal which probably won't happen.

Cavs wants Bynum and can become the third team. I am sure a lot of other teams would be willing to do the trade if they get Bynum.

Can't really blame him for associating Houston with mediocrity, can we?

And the price keeps on falling. Do not want! Rebuild time me thinks or
Get Bynum for Toronto pick, Dallas pick another first along with Morris.

I want a superstar who thinks he would make a team a winning one. Not him and two of his friends or someone who's scared to go to a mediocre team to try and make it better.

He doesn't want to win... Or atleast it's not his number 1 goal. Cause if he did he would of been in OKC months ago!

D.H. already wins in Orlando. He wants to win rings. Not fist or second round exits.

And he is right. He will not win a ring if he comes to Houston. And that's because it takes 3 superstars now to be competitive and challenge the great teams out there. Houston right now has 0 superstars.

Why should Dwight have to be the first to come to any place? He's already in Orlando for all those years. I don't blame him for wanting to go someplace where he at least as a shot.

If I were him I'd want to play with Kobe & Nash.

Dirk would like to argue the point of three superstars needed to contend...

It doesn't take three superstars. Bosh is not a superstar. Harden is not a superstar (yet). Gasol is not a superstar, and Bynum is borderline.

Imagine Jordan leaving in the middle of his prime to join Magic / Bird because he wanted to "WIN"

    Real superstars make it happen.

If it was about winning Dwight would be open to be dealt to more than 1 team (now 2) . He's all about the market.

When T-Mac wanted out he was more open and had towns like Hou, Indy, PHX. Those aren't really destination cities. T-Mac was about winning
