4 of our starting 5 would have all star potential. With Bynum and Asik anchoring the middle we'd be a 45 win team, creep into playoffs this year and let the youngins earn experience. Next year 50+.

i'm spent on the whole dwight issue. i'm just going to wait until clutchfans crashes. in the meantime i'm going to keep watching summer league highlights and get excited about our rookies.

He's over-dramatic, some would say he's a diva, and he can cause fits for front office personnel.

But for all his childish behavior, Dwight Howard is still the best center the NBA has seen since Shaquille O'Neal wore No. 34 for the Los Angeles Lakers. For the team that calls Staples Center home, Howard still may be more of a headache to deal with than he's worth.

Then again, maybe not -- the Lakers and drama have a long history with one another.

If Howard ends up signing with the Lakers and becomes the new face of the franchise following the Kobe Bryant era, then his roller-coaster ride into a purple and gold uniform would be fitting of his new NBA stage in Hollywood.

After all, we're talking about a team that's been through Shaq vs. Kobe, Shaq vs. Phil, Kobe vs. Phil, Kobe vs. everyone, and so on.

This time around, the Lakers have to ask themselves if all the drama is worth it after reports surfaced on Tuesday that the team is once again pursuing the All-Star center. There is no debating that he brings athleticism and defensive presence that even the Lakers' own All-Star Andrew Bynum can't match.

But because any trade involving Howard would ultimately cost the Lakers Bynum, it stands to reason that it's not a sure thing whether or not the Howard deal improves the team enough to win titles in the long run, especially considering the baggage that Howard brings with him and his recent injury history.

Bynum, though, has had his own issues with maturity as well. These included an admission that he wasn't giving his full effort on defense on more than one occasion, an ill-advised three-point attempt against the Golden State Warriors, and numerous occasions of foot-in-mouth type of commentary, most notably, the statement that closeout games are easy.

Howard, though, is much more problematic due to the gravity of his situation. He virtually held a franchise hostage with deceit and indecisiveness. Though he's often been compared to Brett Favre, the damage he has done to the Orlando Magic is worse than what the Favre did because he is still in his prime and the team can actually get something of value in return should they have a defined course of action to take.

What's unfortunate throughout the back-and-forth that's taken place is the fact that the Lakers too are doing damage to their team chemistry by remaining involved in these constant rumors and seemingly endless speculation.

The Lakers will need to start establishing chemistry quickly given the age of its core group of players, no matter what happens in this chaotic offseason.

So to revisit the question as to whether or not Howard is worth the trouble, the answer is an emphatic maybe. It will depend on Howard's attitude and willingness to commit to something greater than himself, something he hasn't been particularly good at doing over the course of the last few years.

With all that said, there are still a lot of moving parts that have to connect in order to make any of this possible.

Seriously, I wonder what Morey was offering that the Magic rather take the Cavs' junk. At least the Rockets were willing to take a bad contract or two back, not to mention draft picks and a couple decent young players. This doesn't sound right.

The cavs draft picks would be very high...our picks would be mid-low if we acquire Dwight/Bynum. He wants to build through the draft, so this actually makes sense
