IF we are getting Bynum and not Howard that means a) we take on less contracts b) we give up less talent.

I think the offer would probably be
    Martin
    Jones
    Morris
    Toronto #1
    Dallas #1

Like others have said. I'd hope we could keep Jones but Bynum is worth it I think.

    Lin /Douglas/ Machado
    Lamb / JRICH
    Parsons / White
    Dmo/ Patterson
    Bynum / Asik

That is something that would look great for the future. I think that we would be in the mold of the OKC Thunder without ever having to truly tank. We saw Bynum could take over games and now it is his time to shine. I like Howard more but if he doesn't want us just let him go to LA, we aren't ready to contend yet anyways and I think Bynum could be the better player in three years when we are with this core.

I agree with you here. I've maintained all along he'd re-sign here.

And, the more I think about it, the more I am answering my own question - we beat Cleveland's offer with our WORST offer. Martin's expiring and the Toronto lottery pick along with anything else Morey is comfortable giving up is likely enough to beat anything Cleve throws out there.

I've been telling my brother for two weeks Howard will be a Rocket - or Bynum will be.

Didn't expect Dwight to "announce" he'd re-sign with either LA or us though. (although it's not surprising as he's finally realized it was LA or Hou...lol)

Guess that threw my thinking off a little...LOL.

So to get Howard we just need to beat whatever Cavs can offer for Bynum? I don't think Orlando cares what team gets Howard.

And I'm fine with Bynum at a reduced price. Basically gifting LA a title though.

Howard knows damn well that it is down to la or hou. Anyone in their right mind would probably say hey i'd rather play in los angeles.......but that is not the point. Like me and you have both said at the end of the day when the Rockets do trade for him his options will be very limited. It is worth the gamble. Hearing Van Gundy break it down in those interviews gave me even more reassurance that this is probably the best approach to take

Orlando is receiving Anderson Varejao and multiple draft picks. If we give Martin, Patterson, Morris Dallas 1st round, Toronto's 1st round lottery in exchange for Dwight and J-Rich... that already beats the offer Orlando is receiving... Seems to me Orlando is just throwing out rumors to make the Rockets slip and offer too much.

Why does it matter now If it didn't matter an hour ago? He wanted Brooklyn and we wanted him. He wants LA and all of a sudden nobody wants him? F- that, I still want him.

lol... yeah, LOVE JVG and he was, as always, funny in those interviews.

Like Mejia just tweeted - now that Howard is "IN" as far as LA goes, it gives Houston assurance they could flip Howard to LA for Bynum at deadline.

The Lakers want to use Houston's assets in acquiring the better player. The Rockets have worked hard in accumulating these assets to just use them to strengthen an opponents chance at winning a championship. It just reeks of a big market team coming away with the star, while the small market team gets stuck with a potential star, who has had a a injury plagued career until the shortened lockout season. This will be compounded even further if Bynum gets injured and the Lakers continue to build their dynasty. Bynum is a nice consolation prize if the price is low, but otherwise, it seems more feasible to stick with the draft picks, along with the rookies, and let Cleveland get their hands dirty.

Bynum is a better option if he signs the extension with Houston, Howard is way to much of a risk and a diva at that

The Cavs have slightly better draft picks don't they in terms of positioning?

I don't know how they're young talent stacks up to ours though.

    Either way, we're losing Dwight.

If Morey doesn't get busy now, we're going to end up losing on Bynum.

And we'll have Omar and Sam interchanging btw themselves for the next 5 years.

I would definitely take that trade.

But, even with us not getting Dwight (and it SHOULD give us more leverage with Orlando), both us and the Lakers will have to take a "bad contract" to get it done I believe.

F*** that. We can beat CLE's best offer with our worst. Why on earth would we let them walk away with Andrew Bynum almost for free?

I don't think anyone is saying no thank you.

I think what we are saying is that this doesn't change anything in terms of us in our pursuit for the real prize.........DWIGHT HOWARD.

    NO.

If they get Bynum they are a playoff team in the East when you factor in Kyrie's development. Their picks are gonna suck. Our Toronto pick is the best pick that Orlando can get.

Meanwhile, Morey is busy playing ping pong via Larry Coon's twitter:
